Arrived to find the Hotel Closed Down
Nobody present Doirs Locked In darkness
Maybe closed for refurbishment ??? No Notice anywhere to advise
Had to rush at a very busy time to find alternative accommodation
Never again !
Originally I was a little worried when we found out that our room had no window--only a skylight--and it was rather warm. But Nicola (hope I've spelled that right) very kindly found us a much nicer room. Breakfast was good and the staff were all unfailingly pleasant and helpful to deal with. I like the history behind the place. It's been a hotel since the 1850s. It could do with a few touch-ups here and there but it was very comfortable and the fact that there was a bar right in the building was great when you wanted a Scotch at the end of a day.
Staff were nice. Good location. Room was very small with only a skylight. Paper peeling off walls. Soap dispenser in shower fell off on use!
Furniture old ant tatty. Not good overall. Did not eat in hotel as a result.
They are asking for a review...
Well, I would just say that the only way to fix the myriad of issues here, is to bulldoze it and rebuild from scratch...
Sorry...
Stayed 4 nights for a family visit. The rooms are a little dated and the beds firm. Breakfast excellent and staff very friendly. Overall it is good value for the price.
Staff were helpful, but the first night we stayed out radiator started banging at 3am and didnât stop all night. No one to fix until about 7am. Paper thin walls and could hear next door snoring.
They upgraded us to a quieter room after breakfast. Then the new room had no hot water. So had to go to the old room to have a hot shower. Perks of an old building. Breakfast was nice both mornings.
