The weather was cold and rainy but the cabin was cozy, warm, and clean. We still ran/biked/ tried to fish. Played the games they had, and built the puzzles as well. The road was quiet and a good place for the little guy to bike- close enough to other things.
The house was clean, quiet, and perfect. Steps from the water (ice in our case). While it is clearly an old Maine cabin, the appliances were all new and updates are clearly happening. Kitchen was well stocked and furniture comfortable. The dead end street on the peninsula means no traffic worries, which was nice with our old dog. We were there in the winter in single digit temps and had no trouble keeping the place warm enough, especially with the easy-to-use woodstove. Loved every second and plan to return.
If you know what "camp in Maine" means, you will know what this property is like. Far away from the city (12 miles from Augusta), no services nearby. No internet, but that was specifically stated in the property description. Lake is mere steps away from the back door of the camp. There were kayaks available for use. Inside was ok, looks like it was a work in progress.
This was exactly as posted. Tv had 3 stations. No remote but easy to turn on and off. No Wi-Fi was great to just put away the electronics and appreciate the water and sound of the loons. We had some rainy weather but it really was relaxing.
Some nearby properties are a little rough looking but the camp is functional and clean, nothing fancy. What makes this a great place is the lake view and access. Also the fire ring is excellent and the whole atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing camp experience! Definitely plan to refer the property to family/friends and return myself!
Spent a relaxing week away from it all at this camp/cabin! Excellent fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Forty minutes to the coast for a day trip to Camden. Not a property for young children (under 4) as swimming access was a bit challenging. But, wear those water shoes and bring your float. and the water was gorgeous. Peaceful location with friendly nearby neighbors. Spent each night around the firepit toasting marshmallows and enjoyiing the loons. No Wi-Fi but bring your Roku and hotspot (and patience) for a movie or hookup your iPad/laptop and stream those previously downloaded movies for the rainy days. DVD Player there too. 1-2 bars service LTE for both AT&T and Verizon made it all work. Nearby general store has pretty much everything you need. Property is carpeted and dog friendly. Our lab enjoyed the swimming tremendously. Would recommend.
The overall vacation was amazing! I was a professional cleaner so the cleanliness wasn't MY standards, which are high. Could've used more dusting and mopping. But the memories we made and the fun we had was/is priceless! All the necessities were there, plenty of spare blankets and linen, cookware... An amazing time and is now going to be a yearly adventure for my family and I!
