The Rowan Cottage is perfectly situated to take full advantage of the natural beauty of the West Coast. It is part of a park-like, six-acre oceanfront property known as the Seaward Estate. Historically, Seaward was one of five salmon trap sites along the Juan de Fuca Strait until the 1950s.

Seaward offers a variety of stunning natural landscapes, including two beaches with thousands of feet of picturesque coastline, West Coast forest, and scenic woodland trails. It remains one of the finest oceanfront properties in the Greater Victoria Region. With real estate values steadily rising over the past two decades, many prime oceanfront properties have been subdivided and redeveloped. A large, original oceanfront estate like Seaward—preserving its natural beauty and historical character—is increasingly rare.

The Rowan Cottage sits directly on the oceanfront and offers 1,356 square feet of living space. Extensively remodeled in 2023, the main level features an open-concept kitchen, dining, and study area. There are two bedrooms—one with a king-size bed and the other with a queen-size bed—as well as a full bathroom on this level. The living room is located six steps down from the main level, at the garden level, with direct access to a patio through sliding doors. All rooms feature large windows that frame sweeping views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains. The ever-changing light from dawn to dusk is truly mesmerizing.

The patio includes outdoor seating, a dining table, and a BBQ. From the sliding door in the king bedroom, guests can access the highest point on the property, which offers a panoramic view sweeping from the East Beach to the West Beach. Sitting in one of the chairs, watching the sunrise and sunset, spotting wildlife, and seeing fishing boats pass by is a spectacular experience.

A beach house on East Beach provides a play area for children and a relaxing spot for adults. Naturally, guests love spending time on the beaches. The East Beach offers a flatter, pebbled surface ideal for walking, while the West Beach features giant rocks, small coves, and secret hideaways perfect for exploration. Guests also enjoy discovering the forest trails. Benches at the ends of the Sunset Trail and Otter Trail provide peaceful spots for reading, wildlife watching, or enjoying the sunset. Others love to picnic—breakfast, lunch, or dinner—on the deck at the end of the Orca Trail, often with a glass of wine in hand.

For those needing to stay connected, the cottage offers free Wi-Fi. A 50" smart TV provides access to cable channels, Netflix, YouTube, and more. On chilly evenings, a wood stove adds warmth and cozy comfort. On dark and clear nights, lucky guests may enjoy an unforgettable stargazing experience, with the Milky Way stretching across the sky above the Strait and disappearing into the Olympic Mountains.

The Seaward Estate includes Rose Cottage (Vrbo 1333347), Rowan Cottage (Vrbo 1340568), and Creekside Cottage (Vrbo 2229506). Rowan Cottage is approximately 200 feet from Rose Cottage and 50 feet from Creekside Cottage. All cottages are oriented with windows facing the ocean, and none have windows facing each other, ensuring privacy for all guests.
