Excellent stay in Puako

This beautiful home was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the beach out front and great snorkeling. We bought fish at the market in Kawaihai and cooked lots of our meals at "home".

Great location

This is a wonderful location, perfect for low-key swimming and also for more serious swimmers and snorkelers. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the beach equipment includes beach chairs, beach towels, a beach umbrella, life vests and aqua socks in both child and adult sizes. There is an extra frig/freezer in the garage, very helpful. Beds are comfortable, sheets and towels very nice. We spent a lot of our time either at the lanai or on the beach in front of the house. All in all it was a great week and we will be back.

A Memorable Vacation

We loved our stay at this beautiful property and amazing location. Our entire stay from beginning to end was 5 Stars. Everything we needed was right there including the General Store right down the street which has the best fresh baked cookies! Totally relaxing setting for a perfect "real Hawaii" get-away. The welcome basket of goodies and the welcome note were a very nice touch. We will most definitely be back! Thanks for everything!

Heaven!!

Everything was absolutely perfect! There was room for everyone to have their private spaces and be able to all join together in a wonderful open room and lanai to enjoy treasured family time. The house is incredibly well equipped but if you need anything, Mary is right on it! The beds and sheets were super comfortable. The beauty of the ocean is in full view. It was so incredible to walk right out to the beach and relax or swim or snorkel. Thank you!!!

Amazing Place

I can’t say enough great things about our stay. Whale’s Tale was fabulous. The home was clean and well outfitted. The layout of the bedrooms was perfect for our family and the home is much larger than what I’d expected from the pictures. The location cannot be beat. It really did feel like we were on a private beach. The snorkeling right out the backyard was fantastic. We saw amazing fish and sea turtles every day of our visit. I actually cried when we had to leave. We will for sure be back. Thank you, 2Papyas!

Perfect

Gorgeous view, spacious well stocked home. Quiet location away from crowds. We rented a kayak for the week and enjoyed paddling out to the reef to see many turtles. Nice and close to Hapuna Beach. We loved our stay- hoping to book Whale’s Tail again next year.

The Ocean is Your Backyard!

If you think of the perfect Hawaiian retreat as a peaceful private beach, a crystal clear ocean full of marine life, glowing red sunsets--all enjoyed with family, then Whale's Tail is the place to come! The house is amazing, with an open layout and lots of windows to remind you that the ocean is only steps away. Mary with 2Papayas, who manages the property, was great at communicating from the moment we booked until we departed. The house was thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen and throughout including water toys and snorkel gear in the garage, plus many small "luxuries" like chilled spa towels waiting in the refrigerator that were a perfect refresher after a day at the beach. We couldn't have asked for a better, more relaxing vacation!

Amazing Beachfront Rental in Puako!

This is an amazing house to spend a week on the beach in. Five us stayed here and enjoyed the snorkeling right off the beach in front of the house. The views are amazing too. A short walk around the sandy point and you can soak in the beautiful sunset. The house was very well maintained with a well stocked kitchen. The bedrooms were spacious too! Mary and the 2Papayas team were a delight. We highly recommend this spot. We will be back!

Best Vacation Ever

We just returned from an amazing stay at Whale’s Tale. It was everything we hoped for and more. We swam with turtles right behind the house every day, saw whales from the deck, enjoyed the beach (pretty much your own private beach), the tide pools, snorkeling and swimming. Quick drive to restaurants, shops and excursions. Lat20 delivered kayaks and paddle boards right to the house and we used them every day. Hapuna beach down the street is great for waves and boogie boarding (which the house had for use in the garage). Sunsets from the beach were spectacular. The house had everything we could need from kitchen supplies to beach towels and beach chairs. You never have to leave the property and beach playground. We will definitely return. The 2 Papayas team made the stay perfect with their organization and communication and amazing welcome tray of Hawaiian goodies (including 2 papayas). Thank you for one of the most memorable vacations ever!

Everything as expected - which was great!

Photos of the house actually made it seem smaller than it really was. Location was awesome – very secluded and private. House is very comfortable. Service and communication checking in and out was awesome! Will definitely go again.

Even more amazing than I could have imagined

Wow. I am having trouble finding the right words to accurately summarize my feelings about this property. Right from our booking through the end of our stay, Mary and her Two Papayas crew were so friendly, helpful, and fantastic to work with. Their Whale's Tail property was so gorgeous, the location just can't be beat. The house has a great layout that gives each guest their privacy, but has a great common area for everyone to gather, play games, have a meal, or sit and watch the sea turtles pop their heads up in the water just outside the door. We so enjoyed our time in Puako, it was far from the tourism of the bigger resorts, yet still just a 20 min car ride away from groceries, restaurants and activities. Anything you'd ever need is already stocked in the house, from kitchen supplies to beach gear and water shoes and sunscreen. We were traveling with our 2 year old son and found the house very family friendly. He especially appreciated the sand toys that were stocked in the garage. Just, wow! We'll definitely be returning to Whale's Tail for future family vacations!

Big Island vacation

We (3 couples) had a fantastic vacation at whale's end. The property is ideal. 3 bedrooms with baths and a lovely porch looking out on a practically private beach. Every necessity was taken provided. It was so wonderful to have such nice accommodations while we visited the Big Island. Close enough to lots of places to eat and explore and secluded enough to have a real get away vacation. Absolutely perfect!

This rental could not have been more perfect, from our own beach spot, to the lovely and large house to the quite neighborhood, not to mention the wonderful snorkeling out our back door! We vacationed with two other couples and this house was exactly what we had been hoping for! We also appreciated being able to do our laundry and having a lot of ingredients needed to cook with, plus the treats left by the staff. We love it!

Perfect location for our family

Great beach access, fantastic air conditioning, quiet secluded location, excellent snorkeling and kayaking right at property, comfortable bedding, fluffy towels. Plenty of beach/water toys provided with unit: coolers, chairs, umbrella, sand mat, beach towels, snorkeling gear, reef shoes, sand toys. Several top-end restaurants and groceries within 15 minute drive. House was not lacking in any category, and we can be pretty picky. We will be returning.

Perfect Island Escape

Our time at Whale’s Tail was perfect. The beach, the house, swimming and snorkeling in the bay were exactly what we were looking for on the Big Island. Mary and her staff were helpful every step of the way. Our family had an age range from 7 to 72 and everyone loved our vacation to Puako!
