This cabin is quite a gem. Cozy, well equipped and in a great location. We visited in the fall, but I think the full potential is achieved in the summer, with ample outdoor opportunities. We had an overall great experience and will be returning in the future.
We had a great time and enjoyed our stay in the Tackle Box! We loved being near the tributary and a kayak's trip away from the bayou, and loved spending our afternoons reading on the enclosed porch after a day of hiking. Very clean and well appointed kitchen.
The cabin was very comfortable and well-furnished. Plenty of hot water and a good shower. The air conditioner worked particularly well. The location was just what we were looking forâon the banks of a slough that connected to Big Cypress Bayou. We were able to put in right by the cabin, but we werenât bothered by the boat traffic out on the bayou.
We had a wonderful weekemd stay here. The cabin was so clean and nice, the hist was super responsive with questions and the kayaking was amazing. Even in mid July it was comfortable. We will come again!
I visited for a few days to get some peace and quiet away from Houston. I brought my 74yr old mother with me because she loves to fish and doesnât have much opportunity anymore. We both had a wonderful stay. I loved drinking coffee on the screened porch while listening to the birds and frogs and looking at the beautiful waterway. My mother caught over 30 fish including bream, crappie, and catfish. It was everything I had hoped it would be.
Very much enjoyed our stay!! Caught and released lots of fish and turtles! Enjoyed having our own little spot to fish!! Next time I'll talk the hubby into kayaking!
We have stayed at both houses this host has! We have LOVED both! We decided to rent this house due to it being only my husband and I staying this time and it was WONDERFUL!! Itâs very cozy, small, and comfortable!! It has access to drive your boat to the house and leave it in the water for the weekend! 10/10 would stay here again and likely will! The host is wonderful and quickly replies to all questions and concerns!!!
We had no problems getting our boats through. Kids fished in kayaks and we could see them and not worry. Its quiet and peaceful. If you are planning on having more than 4 or 5 plan during a season people can sleep on the large enclosed porch. Two of our bunch slept out there and we had no problems. Screen doors lock. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
We enjoyed a quiet night sitting by the water and on the covered porch listening to the crickets, night birds and other critters. We were comfortable and short drive from Caddo State Park and Caddo National Wildlife Refuge and enjoyed a swamp tour with a local captain in Uncertain, Texas. It was an interesting and comfy stay on our roadtrip.
We had some issue when we first arrived with the wifi and tv but a quick message got that resolved and all we needed to do was reset both devices. Owner was very responsive. Other than that, everything was great. The ac worked well, the enclosed screen porch was great and there were ample supplies for cooking and bathing. We stayed with our toddler and the only thing I would point out, is that the rustic design of this place has rusted metal for decorative beadboard and our toddler had to be kept from rubbing on that and there was a slight musty smell from the rust. It is not a bad smell at all, and a familiar or nostalgic smell to some people. We would stay again. Thanks!
We stayed for a night with our 2 children. The cabin is fully furnished and have everything we needed. The patio is wonderful, we enjoyed having breakfast and diner there with a view on the bayou. Two canoes were available with the house and that was wonderful! We recommend!!
Our stay in Karnack was amazing! It was clean, easy check in, had things we forgot, cozy, and the screen porch was our absolute favorite! We loved the location close to boat but not crazy with a bunch of people! Cozy and quiet! My kids loved the rain and the screened in porch! The owner was quick to respond to my messages and was very helpful with the booking when my debit card wouldnât work on the site! Absolutely our new favorite place! Canât wait to come back!
Cabin and property was very clean and quiet. It was the perfect place for a quiet getaway with the hubby. Host stayed in communication and recommended some local eating spots. Caddo Lake State Park was right down the road and beautiful place to visit.
We rented this out for the Valentineâs weekend and it was perfect for my husband and I! Very cozy one-room cabin had everything we needed for the weekend. We spent most of our time on the HUGE screened in porch listening to the rain! The futon was a great touch, as it was so comfortable, we took an afternoon nap on the porch during the thunderstorm! There are many houses in the neighborhood that we werenât expecting by the pics. But the neighborhood was exceptionally quiet! I donât even think we heard a dog bark. I do regret we did not get to use the kayaks because of the weather. Definitely will be booking again and making use of the kayaks next time!
Nice property. The check in process was good but there was nothing included about how to work the A/C. After searching for a thermostat for several minutes, I realized that it's controlled by a Remote Control and it was in Celsius temps so it was confusing. I finally found a video online how to change it to Fahrenheit.
The actual property was good and comfortable. No complaints. Easy to get to from Caddo State Park and Backwater Jacks.
My husband and I brought our toddler out to enjoy a weekend of fishing and cruising in the wildlife management area/Government Ditch. The owner helped fix a payment issue upon booking- which would have been a deal-breaker for our reservation- so we were especially grateful for that! She was also considerate enough to ask us whether or not we'd mind if their maintenance person could stop by to do a quick repair on something on the property during our stay- so kind. The house was located close to the state park, boat ramps, and areas we wanted to explore. The cabin itself had all the necessities and was decorated nicely. We really enjoyed the porch, firepit, and tributary right in the back yard. The dock is located closer to the cabin next door, and was available for use (although we didn't launch or dock there). Unanimous decision from all three of us- would definitely rent again!
The cabin was easy to find and check in. The cabin was overall clean and stocked with towels, tp, and kitchen essentials. Bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows and blankets. The wifi is non existent and we could never connect without tethering to our phones. The porch is very large and nice. Waterfront is a bit misleading. Its really more of a very small creek that runs beside the cabin. The road leading in is very pot-holed and bumpy so this may be trouble for smaller vehicles. The neighborhood has some homes and structures that are dilapidated and are an eyesore.
