Our stay was wonderful until we get back to our room and realized that our TV didn't work.Texted about and was informed that there was no cable service in the room.Didn't understand that because there was a TV and a cable box. So we were unable to watch any TV so we made the best of our stay by playing music on our phones or to watch a game on our computer.
We thought we booked a room through VRBO at The James across the street but the confirmation came through for the Curry Mansion. I called the property manager when I arrived and was told it is a VRBO error, nothing they can do, and the James is sold out so canât fix. I did verify with VRBO we paid the higher rate for the James King Suite with a balcony.
When we arrived at the room all the art had been removed from the walls, just screws sticking out.
My wife stepped on a stair and the wood was rotted, it broke, lucky she was not hurt.
I have pics of the broken stair and missing art but canât upload.
People below had loud music on a Bluetooth speaker by the pool all night. They also let their dog swim in the pool and pee on the pool deck.
I did call VRBO about the booking error when I got home. They said I was charged for the James (about 100 more per night) and they donât know why the confirmation was for the Curry Mansion. I only asked for the difference in price back. VRBO said I need to request the refund of the difference from the property manager (they have the money) and they emailed the property manager about what happened, and request they call me. I also left a msg for the property managers and have not received a call back from anyone.
The positive - great location, the main mansion house looks amazing (we were stuck in the building behind it). They have free washer and dryer by the pool, which is thoughtful. Large fridge on the room is nice.
Could not open our door, luckily found employee who used his code to get us in.
Could not lock door if we left because we could not get back in.
In room phone was disconnected.
Television did not work.
Finally went across the street to another related facility and guests gave us a number to call.
During discussion with lady and listing our issues we were told that if we went out donât leave anything of value in the room because they did not know what was wrong with the code system. (Apparently we were not the only ones)
She said a repair man would be out to correct the television issue (never showed up)
She agreed that the in room phones were disconnected and would remain that way.
Vending machines were inoperable.
This place was an absolute nightmare joke.
Waited five hours with no results and were so frustrated that we booked at another hotel just to get away from this dump.
Never spent a night there.
This place should be abandoned
Did not meet even minimum of expectations
The property manager was very responsive and the location is excellent! We were disappointed that the listing said that breakfast and a happy hour were included, and this changed right before our stay. But they gave us a gift card, so we appreciated that. We really enjoyed our visit!
Neat house, perfect location. Breakfast each day happy hour were free each day which was great. Was only steps from Duvall (by Irish Kevin's and Sloppy Joes) but was still quiet. Rusty the cat was an excellent greeter. The pool looked nice but we didn't use it because it had leaves in it - that's the only thing that could've been better.
