The property was clean and comfortable. Neighborhood was beautiful, walkable, friendly, and quiet. Communication about the stay was very good, and the local manager couldn't have been nicer.
Property is very nice. Just a couple of items the homeowners might want to consider: 1) install a ceiling fan in master bedroom - will save energy and use of HVAC fan function. 2) new commode in master bath - current one is too low and small. 3) exhaust fan in master bath needs cleaning - will operate more effectively and efficiently when clean.
Overall property is very nice and would stay there again if available on next trip to Kiawah.
Cute cottage with just the right space for family of 8. Beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the selection of board games and books. Very short walk to beach!
Loved this property - so close to the beach! Thought we would spend more time in Charleston, but we enjoyed the restaurants and shops at Freshfields, the beach was a short walk away from our villa, could not have asked for more. We had one small issue with the TV that was quickly remedied. Thank you!
Pros:
Great location walkable to lovely beach.
Quiet community.
Parking conveniently in front of door.
Original framed artwork was very nice. Especially the paintings in living room.
Cons ( I have photos for proof):
Linens for beds and bathrooms were high quality.
1. Oven door handle fell off. I had to fix it by hand
2. Grill would not light. Only side cook
-surface would light (for food in a cook pot)
3. Over-sink light in kitchen non functional - rather dark at sink at night.
4 kitchen cabinet drawers have grit and food partials
5. Primary shower floor had badly peeling paint and was dirty upon arrival
6 both toilet seats had paint missing (exposing brown particle material) (unhygienic!)
7. All Doors had grimy hand marks. Not clean
8. Primary bedroom had large stain on carpet by door
9. Primary bedroom coverlet has dark smudge
10. Secondary bath shower curtain rod sagging
11. Walls had some marks and scratches in various places
12. Living room left blinds top piece was found on floor ( I put onto window sill)
13. Every window was unlocked upon our arrival!
14 screened in porch table had two holes in top
15 all cushions in chairs around that table had significant black stains. No one wanted to touch them - much less sit on them...sadly, we couldnât use the screened in porch for dinning!
16. Only two mini tubes of shampoo for 4 persons , for even one night, is not enough.
17. Overall, needs design updates.
A great location with ideal beach access. Yes, there is some deferred maintenance but this property is comfortable and perfect for a relaxing Kiawah visit.. Our dog, Sophie, was especially happy because dogs can be off leash on the beach starting November 1!
A little outdated but the memories are still there.
We used to visit these properties when we were younger. I've got so many memories and this trip didn't disappoint. It was a quick turn around, but a nice getaway from the state of things. The best part was we were able to bring the dog!
We have stayed for many years on Kiawah. Property location is terrific and thrilled to have a dog friendly property! Unit needs a good deep cleaning, however, and update. Definitely bring all your own pots and pans- all old and most unusable. Vents all need to be cleaned and changed- completely mildew. Unit not ready as promised on day of check in.
The cottage is spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Location is great. Beach access is great. We can hear the ocean! We had the home away from home immediately. Our only concern was finding it easily. We were never given the street address Sea Rocket- - only the Oceanwoods name but after circling we found the area.
We had a wonderful stay. The property was centrally located between East and West beach. The beach access was quiet and a very easy walk. There were lots of bike trails that took you wherever you wanted to go on the island. The house was clean and comfortable!
