The house is light, modern, clean, spacious and has great entertaining spaces. It overlooks a caravan park, but we knew this and that was fine. The major issue was that the washing machine is broken and it fused the electricity of the house mid-cycle with a full load of my kidsâ clothes (sitting in dirty water). I had no clean clothes for my kids and, when pressed, the only alternative the agent offered was to use the laundrette at the caravan site. This is c20mins walk away from the house (NB you cannot park at the caravan site). This then created lots of others issues (make sure you bring coins and detergent for the laudrette!). Having rented a premium house, it is not exactly where I wanted to spend 2 hours on a Sat evening.
Beautiful modern home with a fabulous layout. Perfect spot to enjoy lovely long walks, visit Salcombe or the like and the beach are minutes away. Be sure to check your dates of travel if you want to enjoy the Challaborough Holiday Parkâs beach with your dog as it not dog friendly all year. The house is dog friendly for one dog. Just a note, the house has no operating windows, only sliding doors, really nice ones, that we had wide open throughout our stay. That said if you have a pet or children that tend tend to stray, you will find it very difficult to get fresh air in without having the doors open.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Beachdown is a stoneâs throw from the beach. The property is spacious and beautifully decorated throughout, with ample crockery and glassware, etc. provided. A large TV, ample games and DVDâs and lots of books are available to guests. The large balcony terrace is a great social and relaxing space.
On arrival there was a bottle of milk in the fridge - very welcome - and a bottle of local fizz and some fudge, all nice touches.
Elsie, the property host was very helpful and always replied to messages and queries promptly - gratefully appreciated.
Challaborough is a sleepy, unspoilt and friendly village perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy an uncomplicated holiday with great coastal views. Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island are a short walk away along the coast path.
