This home was perfect for our annual family vacation in OBX! The entire home was fully equipped. The kitchen was more than amply stocked with cookware, dishes, utensils… The pool area had tons of floats and beach towels. And the beach chairs, umbrella and wagon made the short walk to toes in the sand easy as could be. Erin, the property manager, responded to messages in minutes and was quick to relay information to the owner. We highly recommend this family friendly home to all looking for the perfect vacation! 5

Lovely Home

This is a lovely large home. It has a master suite on each of the 3 floors. It is a split level design offering a lot of privacy. The home was well stocked and we had everything we needed. I would recommend this home.

Great Experience!

The hosts are amazing! Even before we were to arrive, they graciously cancelled and refunded the deposit for the 2 dogs we couldn't take. The day of check in, Chuck contacted us to see if we wanted to check in early and offered to show us where everything was and how it worked. Once we checked in, we had a couple of questions and they responded within minutes. Mid-stay, one of the air conditioners wasn't functioning and Chuck showed up and got it fixed within a couple of hours. To top it off, they baked a cake and left it for us in the refrigerator for us to have on arrival. The place was super clean and extremely well organized! Everything was easy to figure out and even the light switches were labelled. There were plenty of dishes, pots and pans for large groups. There was plenty of space for all 11 of us - 8 adults and 3 small children. The pool area was great and the yard is quite spacious. The car port storage room was full of beach gear including chairs, popup shade structure and umbrellas, pails and shovels, as well as pool toys and floaties. Overall an amazing experience!

Family vacation retreat

The house is perfect for large families with 3 master suites on different floors. It affords privacy yet closeness. The owner has thought of everything you need. You just have to pack your clothes and get some food! It is a bit of a walk to the beach, even from the private parking lot and you can’t see the ocean from the house, but the privacy is worth it.

Beautiful Beach Home

Salty Souls is a gorgeous home decorated with a designers touch while at the same time providing a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Vicki's attention to detail to truly amazing along with her excellent German chocolate cake! Guests are treated with a feeling of being "special" which we have never experienced in over thirty years of renting cottages in the outer banks. Chuck and Vicki have thought of every need guests could possibly wish for and this made our week a memorable one. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us and we most certainly would love to rent your cottage by the sea again.

Salty Souls

From the time our families arrived at Salty Souls, we had a blast. Chuck and Vicki were wrapping up cleaning and preparing the house for us and were able to give us a tour of their beautiful home. They are two genuinely kind people and it is clear they care about their home and ensuring guests have everything they need. We had no issues at all with the house, but Chuck was a phone call away if needed, and even checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Words do not give justice to the phenomenal chocolate cake that Vicki made and left us. The house itself was clean and organized with endless amounts of supplies, entertainment, and books. The book that Chuck wrote is a must read as it is a great story and well written. The heated pool was clean and the hot tub was a hit for our family. We will certainly be back!

A home away from home for the week

Look no further! Hands down the best vacation rental we have ever stayed in! My husband and I have stayed in many vacation rentals all over the world and Salty Souls takes the cake. The home is in a lovely quiet residential section of southern shores with a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Chuck and Vicki are fantastic owners who go above and beyond to ensure their guests are having a great time! The home is well appointed, super comfortable beds, and an awesome fenced in backyard dog park that connects to the pool area. Heated pool, hot tub, plenty of outdoor seating near the pool and on the decks. Indoors they have thought of EVERYTHING!! From the lovely coastal decor, ample selection of Books, videos, games, smart tv’s, and the kitchen has EVERY single thing you could need. Not one thing is overlooked. The owners met us to check in and give a tour and we were blown away by their hospitality and kindness. Vicki- the German upside down cake was amazing- thank you! Honestly I could go on and on- but if you’re still Reading- just do it. Rent this home you will not regret it!

A Very Chill Christmas Eve to New Years Day!

Our annual family beach vacation is really special and homey because of this wonderful well appointed home. The owners are attentive to our group and make sure every thing is working and we are fine. Fantastic Family Experience

There were only 7 of us staying at the house. Others had to cancel at the last minute. But everyone there was totally impressed with everything. Chuck could not have been nicer, and the cake that Vicki made is worthy of note. The house was gorgeous and the description provided online was on the money. Everything was perfectly accurate. The house was comfortable and welcoming. I don’t think we could have picked a better place for our family vacation. The pool was the center of focus for our family, and it was terrific. But the entire property is perfect for a family vacation.

Amazing beach house...and hosts!

There aren’t enough stars to rate Salty Souls...It’s a beautiful, well-maintained, and CLEAN beach house with all you could ever ask for! Not your run of the mill cheesy beach rental. The hosts have decorated and supplied it so you immediately feel right at home and are very friendly, informative, and accessible. Forget something? Not to worry, the hosts have already thought of it : ) Even had a delectable cake in the frig to greet us when we arrived (unbelievable!). It’s like your own private tree house with plenty of space and privacy, yet plenty of places to gather, whether inside, on the decks, or by the pool. We appreciated having a fenced in area for our dog as well and quiet streets to walk him. And for beach lovers like me, it’s an easy park/walk to the beach! We ve rented many places at the beach over the years and this has by far been the best ~ Would 110% recommend!

How fortunate we were…

…to find this property. Never having been to OBX, we had little idea where to locate ourselves. Yet we found ourselves just a few walking minutes from the beach! The owner greeted us when we arrived, showing us around the lovely property. House was in great shape, clean and well-stocked. We were doubly delighted to find the kitchen chock full of decent cooking supplies, all the paraphernalia we could not tote along. And thank you for the lovely cake tucked away in the refrigerator, just the thing for our first night. There was plenty of room for our party of six adults, the porches are an added bonus, and this swimmer loved the clean pool. The weather was perfect and we left with smiles and wonderful memories. There’s something there for everyone: TVs, games, books, nearby good food, restaurants, grocery stores, golf courses. And Chuck I was a wonderful host, just a phone call away if we needed anything. Recommend.

Best VRBO rental!

My hubby and I celebrated our anniversary in this beautiful home! The pictures do it justice… it’s that pretty. We loved the HEATED pool!!! Every room was beautifully appointed and the kitchen was comfortable and easy to use… even the grill. I honestly cannot wait to go back!!! Rent this house… you won’t regret it!

Great House, location, and memories

We had an amazing week at Salty Souls. Everything was clean and orderly. The house is stocked with anything one could need. The wall to the beach is short and easy and the parking lot access helps when you want to haul fishing stuff as well. The location is great with plenty of great things a short walk or bike ride away. There is plenty of room to be with family but have your own space as well. Really, I can't say enough great things about this property and the host. You won't regret booking this home for your vacation.

Relaxing in Beautiful Digs at the Beach

We love staying at this house. It is well designed and appointed. The kitchen is always my judgement of a good house - this kitchen has everything you need to cook and has just been updated. The outside areas are delightful with multiple sitting areas to gather for morning coffee, reading, eating. We love the location. Easy walk to the beach and there are many paths in the neighborhood to run and walk. The kids love to bike to Starbucks - the neighborhood is a low traffic safe biking route to the plaza with coffee and groceries. The owners are so thoughtful and if you need anything, they are a text away.

Great Vacation..

Our stay was perfect! Salty Soul has everything you need for a relaxing, and fun vacation. Chuck and Vicki definitely pay attention to details….the heated pool, jacuzzi, outdoor shower, pool and beach toys, 3 pack-n-plays, beach toys…the list goes on and on! We highly recommend Salty Soul!
