I was really hoping to avoid giving a negative review by notifying the office SEVERAL times throughout our stay via texts, phone calls and email of all of the issues. We spent entirely too much of our vacation trying to rectify various issues with the house. We asked for reimbursement of some sort and have only been pushed off. So here we are. Upon arriving at Big Rock, we immediately discovered that 2 toilets were not functioning and the house was dirty. I sent over a dozen pictures of dirty shower doors (one of which did not close properly), dead bugs on the floor, items on the floors, dirty refrigerator and toaster oven, dirty/dusty surfaces throughout the house. The garbage disposal was out of order, giving off a foul odor. Their initial response was to send a maintenance man out at 10pm our first night there, and a cleaning crew the following day. This was appreciated but also, negatively affected our plans significantly. Late the next day we discovered that the refrigerator temperature had risen to 49 degrees. They offered to send someone over with a cooler and ice. This was at about 10pm. This was not going to work. Thankfully, by the next morning the fridge temp had dropped to an appropriate level. All along, we were texting and calling the office to request some sort of compensation for our inconvenience as this house was not anywhere near what the website presented. It has great potential, but unfortunately the owners/property managers do not give it the attention it deserves. There were missing door knobs, broken and dirty trash cans, dirty windows, stained carpets, dust and cobwebs everywhere you turned. We are still hoping that Mr. lake Lure will do the right thing and compensate us for the major disruptions to our stay.
