The Space:
The Spruce Cabin sits on a quiet 1.2-acre wooded lot in Twin Lakes, surrounded by San Isabel National Forest and minutes from some of Colorado's most iconic 14,000-foot peaks.
The cabin has been updated with new finishes while keeping its mountain character. A wood-burning stove heats the main living area efficiently — firewood is provided and stacked outside. Electric baseboard heaters supplement in bedrooms and bath.

The Neighborhood:
Twin Lakes sits at the base of Independence Pass, between Leadville and Buena Vista, surrounded by the highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains. Mt. Elbert — Colorado's tallest at 14,440 ft — is a short drive from the cabin. The area is quieter and less crowded than most Colorado mountain towns.

Getting Around:
You'll need a car — there's no public transit or reliable rideshare in Twin Lakes.
AWD/4WD is recommended year-round and essential in winter. The cabin is on a rural road. Roads and driveway are plowed, but delays happen — be prepared for snowy conditions Nov–Apr.
From Denver (DEN): ~2hr drive via I-70 W to Hwy 91 S, then Hwy 24 to Twin Lakes.
From Eagle/Vail (EGE): ~1.5hr drive.
From Aspen (ASE): 50min over Independence Pass (May–Nov only; 3+ hrs via I-70 in winter).
Once here, Leadville is 15 min north for groceries, restaurants, and supplies. Free parking at the cabin.

Please remember you're staying in a cabin, not a hotel — we'll respond to issues quickly, but there's no one on-site 24/7.
Pets: Up to 2 well-behaved dogs with prior approval ($60 + tax for one and $120 + tax for two). Pick up after your dog. Free-roaming neighborhood dogs may visit the property.
Wildlife: Bear and mountain lion country. No trash or food outside. Lock your car at night — local bears can open car doors. Supervise small dogs and children outdoors.
Altitude: ~9,200 ft. Some guests experience dizziness or nausea. Travel insurance recommended. No refunds for altitude-related issues.
No trash service — pack out to dump stations in Leadville or Buena Vista.
No open fires or smoking anywhere on the property.
Alpine septic — flush only toilet paper. No grease or food scraps down the drain.
Winter: You may need to shovel a few inches of snow off the deck to reach the front door. Shovel and de-icer provided.
Families: Stairs to loft, unprotected loft railing, and wood-burning stove are potential hazards for young children. Please supervise.
