I loved that it was quiet, especially on a Saturday night. The room was basic, clean, and a heater and fan were supplied. The price was high, maybe because it was Saturday night and there weren't many other options for a single affordable room in town. Other people staying there were respectful and again, quiet. The shared bathroom was not an issue.
The Inn is a fantastic place to synergize and energize with other people from all parts of the world. Access to trails and outdoor activities are world class and the accommodations are just the right mix of convenience and comfort. The new owners have a keen sense of how to keep things moving at a great pace without urgency and patience for all types of situations.
Large bedroom with 2 beds. Each bed had privacy, not cramped like a hotel room. Had to go 10 feet into the house for the restroom but that didn't bother us for the great pricing.
Some sketchy fire hazards about and bunk bed that was rigged together made our stay entertaining I guess. Maybe I'm too old for hostels. There was an electrical extension cord that was taped to the on position. It kept trying to trip and turn off and couldn't because it was taped to on. Luckily we're not idiots and know that's a serious fire hazard and unplugged it. Bunk bed in our room sounded like it would collapse and upon further inspection we learned it was repaired poorly and actually would collapse soon probably.
We had a really nice stay. Our only complaint is that the mattress was so hard we had trouble sleeping and both ended up with headaches and sore necks from our two-night stay.
I've stayed at the Inn & the Clouds over the years since 2009. I've stayed before going on back country hut ski trips around Leadville. The last few years I've been staying here as a cheaper alternative for when I ski multiple days at Vail or Breckenridge.
Very affordable. Plenty of space for cooking/dinners. Very quiet on the weeknights I stay here. I WILL BE BACK this winter at some point. Staff is very nice (even when I forget items on accident there lol)
