It has become very run down over 30/40 years and while it brings back happy memories a lot could be done to improve such as the gardens which are appalling and a good lick of paint would no go amiss.

Character hotel, Food good and room wonderful. I would reccomend this hotel--I will be going again.

Expectations are high as you head down the drive to this attractive property for the outside but it soon becomes clear that this place is a shambles when you reach reception to find other customers waiting for non existent staff. There is clearly no permanent reception staff. Room in main house with view was shabby, in great need of repair, cold as heating off with no way to turn it on. In fact radiator knob came off in hand. This place has a wedding most nights so likely to be noisy. Public areas could be attractive but lack of staff mean that they are littered with glasses and plates with food on them which are not cleared. This is a one star hotel at best. We decided to grab our things and leave so I can’t comment on breakfast. The only highpoints are the external of the building and the staff who try their best but are woefully unsupportrf and probably very tired of dealing with dissatisfied customers.
