Where to start? The mold on the shower curtains, the dirty dishes in the cupboards, the urine smell in the entire house, or the rat in the bathroom? As soon as my husband heard the scratching, I came to listen. Quickly shut the door (that I had to hold shut because it didn’t latch on its own). My daughter held the door shut as my husband and I quickly gathered our belongings so we could go and find a hotel at midnight! All that was said when I brought it to the hosts attention was, “okay thanks for letting me know. We will call”. That’s it. No apologies, or suggested refunds, nothing. Zilch. We will be reporting this host and home to Vrbo. One star is too much credit and wouldn’t wish this place on anyone. This was supposed to be the highlight of our cross country road trip. It was definitely not.

Cozy cabin in a very convenient, yet quiet location. Easy access from the highway, yet with a residential feeling. The cabin is so unique, it certainly added to the enjoyment of my adventure in Kentucky. Laura was easy to communicate with and responsive. The decor is so charming with an antique theme, yet kitchen, baths and heating/cooling systems are efficient and modernized. Highly recommend for most travelers, though not exactly little kid friendly because of the steep original stairs. I would definitely stay there again.

Loved staying here with my family! This was by far the best equipped kitchen with actual usable pots, pans and utensils!! Made it easy to make meals at the house instead of eating out the entire time. Nice and relaxing. Highly recommend staying here if visiting Lexington, KY.

Great central location for visits to UK, Ky Horse Farm and Keeneland. Host very responsive. Cabin was unique & the book about the renovation was awesome. Stairs are quirky (and slippery ) definitely pack slippers. Enjoyed the early morning walks (behind the cabin by the Baptist church) to visit the neighborhood horses.

This was such a fun, unique place to stay. Very close to amenities (Lexington, Richmond, etc.). The beds are very comfortable. The place is roomy, the decor works - lots of interesting antiques. We enjoyed our short stay.

Downstairs is roomy and nice. The wood floors are beautiful. The stairs are very hard to maneuver. There are holes in the 2nd floor and you can feel wood moving, making unsafe feeling. 2 toilets upstairs a bonus. Urine stained floors not at all comforting. Both showers are in high tubs, anyone with mobility issues will not be able to shower. Outside grass was unkept. Booked 2 days left after the first night.

The house is unique, it gives you the feel of an 1800s log cabin with today’s modern amenities. The 100yr old books, the decor, and the vibe of the place has a unique charm. The bed is super comfortable, the couches are comfortable and good for conversations around the fireplace.

Thoughtful touches like a heated blanket tucked in the dresser and smart TVs in both the bedrooms and living area added comfort and convenience. The cabin itself oozes character and charm, with a rustic aesthetic that’s been beautifully preserved by the owners. It’s a refreshing contrast to the more modern buildings nearby, making it feel like a true retreat. One unexpected perk was its location—just minutes from several wineries and distilleries, which made for some delightful day trips.If there’s one downside, it’s simply that there aren’t more cabins like this in the area. This one sets the bar high.

The house was a neat old place. We enjoyed the history, but something’s could have been better. We were thankful for the early check in. The grass needed mowing, there was mold on the shower curtains. The place had a bad smell and fly strips with dead flies hanging on the inside. The bedroom doors don’t close. I appreciate the work done to restore the old house but we were looking for something a little more relaxing.

The cabin was exactly as pictured on the VRBO site and a perfect fit for two adults. We were in town to enjoy horse country and some bourbon country too - perfect location! Minor issue with a leaking shower and it was fixed within 48 hours of our arrival - no inconvenience whatsoever. Owner is very responsive and the attention to detail in the cabin is clear (even makeup washcloths in the bathrooms!) We were there in extremely hot weather and the AC was absolutely fine - ceiling fans also fantastic! We would definitely stay again and would love to experience it in colder, cozier weather so we could enjoy the firepit and the fireplace inside too.
