Fantastic Cascais
Hotel is not in the best location, however it's comfortable and has an excellent staff.

Perfecto Pestana Cascais
It's in a perfect central location. 5/10 minutes walk into Funchal central. Bus stop directly outside (really cheap buses). The main Hotel has a lovely olde feel to it . being built 1926, it has quite a few antiques on display, and really authentic grand furniture in the bars etc. The hotel is also connected to The Pestana Village , where there is even more ammenieties to choose from. There is a lovely walk around the grounds, where you can see how they grow all the flowers and trees for the other Pestana hotels in Madeira. really peaceful. except the road in front the hotel! but you do get used to it. We didn't try the Buffet, but we did eat in the other two restaurants and they were both exceptional. There is a cake shop few doors away, where we sampled an enormous amount of delicious cakes -

Friendly personnel
Pestana Cascais hotel has exceptionally friendly and capable reception personnel. Also the restaurant worked well: breakfast buffet was good and the dinner we had was tasty. The hotel building, its rooms and the pool area were not in line with four star rating of the hotel, time for a haul up.

Ich glaube, die Zeit, in der das Hotel tatsächlich vier Sterne hatte, ist längst vorbei.
Die Zimmer waren teilweise sehr abgenutzt, hellhörig und einige Armaturen hatten sich gelöst. Der Kühlschrank war so laut und stand nur wenige Meter vom Bett entfernt, wodurch wir erhebliche Schwierigkeiten hatten, einzuschlafen. Abends konnten wir jeden Gast hören, der im Flur unterwegs war - es war wirklich extrem hellhörig. Unsere Verandatür ließ sich nicht abschließen. Als wir uns beschwert haben, wurde es vorübergehend repariert, nur um nach wenigen Stunden erneut dasselbe Problem zu haben. Außerdem wurden uns jeden Tag weniger Handtücher zur Verfügung gestellt.
Nun zum Frühstück: Als Einheimischer würde ich hier niemals essen. Am ersten Morgen haben wir das Buffet gesehen und einige Dinge ausprobiert. Danach sind wir jeden Tag außerhalb frühstücken gegangen. Die Qualität war mangelhaft, der Kaffee aus dem Automaten hatte keinen Geschmack, und das in einer Kaffeekultur wie Portugal. Die Fleischwaren waren von minderwertiger Qualität, die Auswahl an Brot war begrenzt. Käse und Früchte waren jedoch gut.
Der Zustand des Schwimmbads und der Sauna machte einen sehr abgenutzten Eindruck. Im Pool konnte man spüren, wie sich der Boden oder die Folie ablöste, und im Saunabereich roch es unangenehm.
Ein paar Punkte vergebe ich nur, weil das Personal sehr nett und zuvorkommend war. Auch die Lage und die Parkmöglichkeiten waren gut.
Ich kann das Hotel leider nicht empfehlen.

Tähdet 90-luvulta
Mielestäni tämä hotelli ei ole 2016 enää ****-hotelli. Kulunut ja ränsistynyt. Allasalueella ei lämmintä suihkua. Allas likaisentuntuinen. Huoneessa pieniä muurahaisia. Kolmenhengen huone oli tilava. Kolmas vuode erittäin matala.

Wunderschöne Tage zum Auspendeln
Ein gepflegtes Haus am Stadtrand mit Blick auf den Atlantik, perfekter Service von kompetentem, überaus freundlichem, doch nie servilem oder aufdringlichem Personal - was kann man sich da mehr wünschen?
Sehr gut: Stadtzentrum, Bahnhof und Busbahnhof sind tagsüber mit dem kostenlosen Shuttle-Bus des Hotels zu erreichen, aber auch mit der öffentlichen BusCas- Linie für nur 1€! Von dort kann man für wirklich kleines Geld nach Lissabon (Bahn 40 min, 2,40€) , nach Sintra oder zum Cabo da Roca fahren - langweilig wird's einem nie. Wir kommen wieder!
