Staff were friendly. Building internally need of improvement in all area to include bedrooms, shower/toilet facilities, tv room and kaundry room. Nice you can reserve bottom bunk bed. The dryer in laundry room was very poor at drying clothes, but at least washing and drying was free. TV room had no tv. Also be nice if tgere was a communal kitchen.
The mattress is very thin. Only 2 pillows (more bedding, towels, etc costs extra ÂŁ2 ) shower is tiny, dirty, and sooooo smelly!!! The reek of mildew tells me exactly why they request you leave the window open (which makes the room way too cold and loud!) Definitely would reccomend paying just a little extra per night to get a much better place!
The location is spot on, just few min walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras and with eateries around.
The room looks dated and very basic. No table top to place your stuffs, ceiling is peeling, shower water sprays out and floor outside gets wet.
The public area/lobby/cafe is very decent and comfortable. However, we encountered 2 strangers walking right up to our luggage and tried to move them, right under our noses! So be very careful there.
I lost money on the room etc.
I booked a stay for New Year's Eve plus a couple days. When I returned to the hostel after a New Year's party a male roommate they placed in the room was very ill.
I explained to the male working at the reception that the man was not well and was coughing bad etc.I also asked to change rooms. The receptionist said there were no beds and that if I wanted to change rooms I had to completely check-out before 10am and that I could not check-in until after 4pm. Despite the expected rain and all the stores closed there would be nowhere to go. I had no choice but to lose money and leave.
I stayed here as I had an early train from Euston in the morning and wanted to get some sleep before going back to Edinburgh. The room was clean and the bunk was surprisingly comfy, with good bedding provided. The room leaked a lot of noise in from the outside though and it was lucky I had earbuds/earplugs to drown out most of the noise - otherwise I wouldn't have got any sleep at all, due to the constant sirens and traffic outside. I enjoyed getting a coffee at the place, before my train. Staff were very good with a quick check in and check out. I would come and stay here again, if I was stuck and/or needed to sleep by Euston or Kingscross station for an early train.
