Great property with a lot for all ages. This is likely the most well equipped house we have ever stayed in, it is more like a home than a rental. From games to fishing poles to unlimited firewood to horseshoes to puzzles that are all oddly missing just one piece the Madison House has it all. The river and the fishing pond give you days of things to do without ever getting in your car.

The house was absolutely lovely and the perfect place for people to gather as we went to rock Hill farm to celebrate my nephew’s wedding. It was clean. It was well laid out. It was outfitted Nicely the owners needed to come in and check something while we were there and we’re very courteous about letting us know that they were coming and when they were there and when they might have to come back with some supplies Anything else if we’re down this way again, we certainly would go back to the house. What an awesome home and grounds! The kitchen was so well stocked- everything we needed! The bedrooms were comfortable and the views were truly amazing. The property itself is so well thought out- spaces for everyone to enjoy- we would love to come in the summer and enjoy the river more. Also- they have a terrific record collection- we all loved the 4 seasons room!

We were there for a week with our kids and grandkids. The setting was great, with the large yard and the view of the river and mountains. The kids enjoyed the river and playing in it, canoeing, etc. The kids loved the pond for fishing. The ping pong table was a great hit for kids and adults. The kitchen was well appointed with good high quality cutlery, lots of glassware, an assortment of pots and pans. We grilled a couple of times and the grill worked well. We got out for some good hikes in the area, and some biking, despite the incredible heat this week. We visited several local breweries, and they were great! Vicki was very assessible and eager to help with anything we needed. Our dogs seemed to have as much fun as we did. The vinyl collection in the 4 seasons room was happily utilized. The WiFi was strong and reliable, which was important, since I had to log in to work a little nearly every day.

Lovely home and great vacation location near DC area. House is fabulous with wonderful views. Kitchen is very well stocked, dining and living area are both spacious and inviting, bedrooms are comfortable and bathrooms are nicely appointed. Bonus rooms are fun and useful. Property is great - even with snow and ice. Perfect place for family getaway!

Annual Friends Trip for 12

We were extremely pleased with the property. It appears the owners have thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. When we wanted to identify a bird, binoculars were right there. When we wanted a card table, there was one in a closet. When we wanted a bottle opener, a strainer, a casserole dish, they were all available. The furniture is new and tasteful. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous. We spent a good deal of our trip on the back deck. We loved the house so much, we’ve already booked a return trip. We highly recommend this house.

Wonderful Week in Madison

This is a beautiful place to stay. Lots of private areas to get away if needed but also great gathering spaces inside. We had "happy hours" in the Tiki Room, watched the Euro's (soccer) in the Great Room, played a rousing game of KickBall on the extensive grounds and the younger folk went for long walks on the beautiful property. We found a couple of places to visit in Madison, Bald Top Brewing and Cake Krums Cafe. Highly recommend both. The owner and caretaker were both responsive to our issues the main one was getting locked out of the bunkhouse as we were preparing to leave and dealing with a couple of wasp nests. (There was wasp spray in the house). My husband said the gas grill was excellent, the best and cleanest we have encountered on any VRBO rental. All in all highly recommend this place.

Spirit Animal Reunion 2024

Madison House was the star of our family reunion. Nine adults and a wee dog enjoyed so many memorable moments from before sunrise to after every beautiful sunset at this awesome home in the Blue Ridge mountains. We enjoyed the natural beauty and sounds outside and all the amenities inside - it was like we won the lottery. Beautiful Location in Madison, VA

The home is situated in a great location. The back of the house faces the Robinson River - it's a very nice view. There are trails leading down to the river, a private pond, fire pits in several locations (unfortunately we couldn't use the fire pits because of the wildfires but I imagine it could be fun especially the one close to the river). There are hammocks everywhere, plenty of space for kids and dogs to run around. The home is rustic, lots of natural light and equipped with a fireplace. Overall, it's a beautiful property. We visited downtown Culpeper. there were a lot of nice shops to check out. My family enjoyed their time there. Thank you for allowing us to share your home!

Madison Magic

All of the reviews that we read are spot on with this house. I do want to first say that Barry and Kelly have gone above and beyond from communicating, to the little touches, the unlimited things to do and room for everyone to have their space. Once you walk into the woods ( or drive the Golf cart in and highly recommended renting as it’s quite a walk to the pond and river) your in another world. The adventure on the trails in the woods are amazing. The catch and release pond, several fire pits, picnic tables and of course the river. The river was too low to use the kayaks. For anyone who likes a cool nights sleep take the rooms downstairs. There are doors that open on to a small porch from those bedrooms and the view is amazing. There is a baby gate and 2 pak n plays as well. We enjoyed the hammocks, volleyball and badminton night, horseshoes, swings, the fire pit and the three bucks that walked up the first morning. The towels and linens were a hit as well. The teen boys enjoyed the bunk house and having their own space. So many memories. You will be glad you rented this little piece of Heaven. Thank you again! We’ll be back.

Incredible views, great for a weekend getaway

Booked this property for a weekend girls getaway. The view off the back deck is incredible! It only took us about 15 min to get to 3 different wineries we were interested in visiting. We had no complaints and would recommend this home to others!
