Room, though was small, was very clean. It was just right for an overnight stay in Male. Proximity to the ferry is very convenient - 5 minutes walk to the ferry terminal and 8 minutes ferry ride to Velana International Airport. Staff is very friendly. I forgot my hat in the room after check out and reached out to the staff. They have promised to arrange drop off at our resort counter in the seaplane terminal so I can get it. Let's see....

Free breakfast buffet was a wonderful surprise (and quite nice) but our room was definitely just average. The bathroom was hot and hot water for shower lasted only a short time. The front desk failed to share an important message so we could have missed our sea plane flight. Need to research when home but I think I was charged more than Expedia price posted when booked.

The hotel in general exceeded my expectations. As a road warrior I typically end up staying at Hampton inn type properties. Unima Grand is the Hampton inn of Male. Great familiar like environment to make you feel comfortable. The staff connected via WhatsApp prior to arrival at to make the transfer from the airport to hotel seamless. Check in was smooth with formalities filled out while I waited at the airport. Breakfast and the on site restaurant was exceptional! Lots of fresh local offerings at a very good price. Only 2 areas for improvement. Wifi was limited to 1 device at a time. My door had some issue with the lock. Possibly a low battery. Again, nothing really to complain about.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had in a hotel! My room smelled of mold, the phone in my room didn’t work to call reception or room service, the WiFi reset every 10-20min which was extremely annoying and to top it all off there was no warm water in the shower. The highlight this morning was the fire alarm going off because some idiot decided to smoke in his/her room. Obviously this is not the hotels fault but it just added to whole frustrating stay. I won’t be staying here again and cannot recommend it unfortunately.
