Iâll wish I could be brief.
Maybe if I had read more about the unit I would have known these things but I was in a hurry to book something as this was a last minute trip.
I took this trip with my wife and teenage daughter. Lugging our stuff to the unit was a pain. 31 steps, not including the three icy ones before you get to the stairwell, where drips of cold water from the roof will attack you before you get shelter.
None of us take long showers. Mine was the shortest because I ran out of hot water. Not a great experience in the winter. This happened the second night even though I waited a half hour after the second shower.
Youâre on your own if you want to watch TV. No cable but they do have internet and an Apple TV streaming device so hopefully you know how to log into your account and use it. Thereâs a Chromecast in the bedroom but that TV is tiny and we are an Apple family.
Parking is ok if you have a small car, like a Mini or a Subaru. I drive a Yukon and that wasnât going to fit in the tiny space thatâs offered, especially with the ice that covered the parking area. Street parking was problematic too, only because it was pretty busy just before Christmas and maybe because a lot of people just had bigger vehicles that were too difficult, if not impossible, to fit in the garage.
Bring your own coffee. Thereâs a Keurig but they only offer some Folgers coffee (apologies if you like Folgers). Bring your own spices too. All they had were salt and pepper and those containers looked like theyâve been there for 20 years.
If youâd like a fire in the fireplace on a cold winter night then you better bring your own wood as they only give you a few pieces. They did supply fire starters so that helped.
My last gripe: the dishes. Donât plan on serving big meals unless you bring regularly sized plates.
Now for the good stuff. The place is centrally located and only a few minutes drive to either Canyon or Eagle Lodge. The unit is clean and appears to have been updated recently.
All in all, the place was comfortable and clean. But I just got the feeling that the owners didnât want to go the extra step of providing some simple amenities given the price we paid per night.
Oh, and no in-unit laundry. The washer and dryer were in a locked closet that we couldnât access. That was a real turnoff.
