After a great first visit last summer, we returned this year for Week 7 of the Chautauqua summer institute and had another wonderful week staying in this beautiful, comfortable, and peaceful house. Kim is an excellent host and very easy to work with. What an outstanding place for a week at Chautauqua!
We had an excellent stay at this incredibly beautiful house. The pictures do not do it justice. We accidently got locked out of the house and the host was amazingly responsive, helpful, and kind. We will definitely be staying here again!
Two couples all over 70 years for our first week at Chautauqua. House was very roomy for our small group. Well appointed and good kitchen with easy access to grill on front porch. House is well shaded so is cool during hot days. Still had split HVAC units to cool individual rooms if needed. Beds were comfortable. Downstairs master has a queen and jacuzzi tub. Upstairs master has king and walk in shower. . Easy access to Chautauqua by car ( get parking pass for Main Zlot) 1 mile from house or by walking trail (25 minutes to amphitheater). We rented bikes for a day which made it a breeze. Host was responsive and accommodating. Would stay again.
The house was amazing! Beautiful, comfortable, super clean. We loved it! Perfect location, we went to nearby wineries (loved Johnson Estate winery) and Lake Erie. Highly recommend this house!
The home was beautiful and well-appointed. It is located just off a major road, yet in a woodsy area--the best of both worlds. Also within a short drive from Chautauqua. The kitchen was also well-appointed. Parking was good. You enter the home through the garage, and take stairs to the first floor of the house. Bedrooms are nice, gas fireplace is great, everything very comfortable. We were at Chautauqua so I did not see the host, but she was very accessible and accommodating.
This home is lovely, spacious, well-equipped, and confortable. It was a perfect place for us during our week at Chautauqua. It is just outside the Chautauqua grounds, which we accessed following a lovely path from the house to Chautauquaâs Elm Gate. We made frequent use of the two wonderful porches and enjoyed cooking in the well-supplied and roomy kitchen. Couldnât have been happier!
The owners have a lovely home and take great care of it. They were excellent hosts. They addressed every detail. Well-furnished, stocked kitchen, great beds, sheets, towels and hand towels were highest quality. So many nice features. Thank you.
This property was exactly as described, and more! We stayed with our parents so we could take them easily to Chautauqua Institution. The location was perfect, and the neighbors were extremely welcoming! Kim, our host, was amazing! She communicated almost instantly when we had questions. We couldnât have asked for better!! The house is perfect for multiple people. The kitchen and dining area are designed for entertaining, so preparing meals for 7 was easy. It came fully stocked with utensils, dining ware, and cookware. The large great room was perfect to space out, and the porch was nice to hang out on. Bedrooms were spacious with in room sinks. This made things very easy with multiple people. Thank you Kim for a fantastic stay!
House was so impressive! It was exactly what our family needed to have a perfect 4th of July week.
Kim was very helpful and friendly too! Canât wait to come back for another stay.
We had a wonderful time and this home is perfect for attending Chautauqua! Large, beautifully appointed home, loved the porches and kitchen, comfortable beds. Be prepared for highway noise and a lot of stairs - 2 flights to get up to the house and 2 more flights to get to all but 1 bedroom. Host attended to a lot of details to make guests comfortable- thank you!
This was our second year staying in this unique Arts & Crafts style home and once again we had a wonderful experience. The addition of air conditioning was a bonus this year, although the weather was so nice we hardly even needed it! The home is well-appointed, including everything we needed. This location provides an easy walk to Chautauqua and even offered lakefront access which was wonderful for kayaking and peaceful sunset viewing. We highly recommend this location for others and look forward to returning again next year! Thank you Kim! We greatly appreciate all that you did to make our stay so enjoyable!
The week was humid and the new AC worked well to get the humidity out of the house. It was well equipped. We cooked in the kitchen or used the gas grill 5 of the nights. All were clean and they had a corkscrew all the kitchen tools needed for a variety of cooking.
This home has been well loved and cared for. The community is small and private. The kitchen is well appointed with everything a family would need. It is located on a busy road, so for us, it was not as quiet as we hoped on the front porch, but the back porch of the home is much better. To enter the home, you must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs or walk up a hill to the front of the house. If you have elderly family members or guests who are not able to do the stairs, just be aware, which is my reason for the 4 star rating for the description. My family's elderly friends were not able to visit, due to the amount stairs.
The hosts were a delight to work with, I would recommend this property.
We loved the house and it was very well stocked with appliances and kitchen items. We enjoyed setting on the front porch mornings and evenings. I would highly recommend that the property description include that there is NO air conditioning. I didn't catch that when I was checking the listing out. It was a very warm week when we were there, and most nights the thermostat upstairs showed it was between 83 - 85 degrees when we went to bed. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the house is very close to a busy highway and there is a lot of traffic noise. This became even worsts when trying to sleep because we had every window open to try and cool the house off. There were fans available in the upstairs bedrooms, but none in the Master on the lower level. Just keep this in mind if you are planning on renting during the summer months. The fireplace between the dining room and living room is gorgeous and I can only imagine how wonderful that would be in the winter. Overall I would recommend this beautiful home, just keeping in mind if you book for the summer months to be able to handle no A/C.
We rented this property with friends while our teenagers participated in a 4-day dance intensive at CHQ institute. It was conveniently located for a very short drive or a nice walk to the Elm gate near the studio. The living area was bigger than it appears in pictures. There is no central AC but the woods and breeze made it mostly comfortable at night. The owner also placed Chill Wells in the bedrooms. It was hard to tell how much they cooled the rooms, but nobody had trouble sleeping!
Some of the appliances were older and a bit of a challenge (coffee pot and microwave specifically) but the rest of the place was pretty perfect!
The location was perfect as we planned to spend our days at the Chautauqua Institution. This Arts & Crafts style home was well-appointed and so very comfortable. The window seat especially captured our hearts. We look forward to our next visit!
This home was perfect for our stay. The house had everything we needed and had wonderful space. We loved hanging out on the patios and riding our bikes to the institution. We will definitely be coming back â€ïž
