This was a great place to stay for our family. Communication with our host was exceptional and allowed us to explore areas we wouldnât have otherwise seen. The quiet area was relaxing and provided us a central location to see other sights in the area. Overall great stay and would recommend!
The owner was very attentive to us and was so pleasant to speak with. Even before we arrived; in the directions it stated watch out for Cows, that was a fact. Free range cattle every where, with cattle guards all along the roads and bold writing on pavement. You Will need a high clearance vehicle to traverse the terrain. With that being said, maps will take you straight to the location with no problem. Oh and you will need a hot spot box while youâre on the road due to very spotty service. You can use your phone but it will drain your battery. Once you arrive and go inside you will be so pleased with your decision. Beautifully decorated and everything you need at your disposal. There is no TV but we honestly didnât need one because you are gone all day and at night sitting on the back porch looking up at the stars will blow you away, if youâre not use to seeing the constellation. We got our staple goods in Vegas but honestly their is a Family Dollar down the road that Carries all you would need. Even frozen meals and such. Now if you want alcohol get it way before you arrive. I rated this 5 stars across the board with the exception of location due to it being a little far away from everything, but to our surprise we adjusted quickly and it didnât phase us after the first day. It was a wonderful experience and we wouldnât change a thing.
For anyone looking for a break from the busy-ness of daily life, to unplug and enjoy some solitude, this home is the answer. Set among the quirky yet beautiful Joshua trees and in view of granite mountains rising up on the skyline, it is a wondrous world in which to spend some time. All manner of birds flit around the property and coyotes pass by on their way to breakfast in the early morning. Adorable gambelâs quail are ever present, their little head crests bobbing as they peck the ground for food. At night, the stars and the Milky Way steal the show. The Hideaway was the ideal spot for me to slow down and enjoy a life of simple pleasures. The comfortable house itself is lovingly and thoughtfully decorated inside, with little delightful touches in every space. Janene was always responsive to my queries and made my stay effortless. Aside from a half day visit to the west rim of the Grand Canyon, I mostly stayed at the house, enjoying the peace and serenity of the surroundings. I highly recommend the Hideaway for those wanting to unplug from the world for a bit to recharge and restore.
My family and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was great for our road trip to the Grand Canyon West. Be prepared to read and do other things that donât require data or WiFi. I suggest downloading things before coming if you have young kids to entertain. We took walks at sunset and the kids really enjoyed looking for lizards. We also read books and played games.
Janene was very responsive and a great host!
We chose to stay at the Hideaway because we wanted to have a âhouseâ as opposed to hotel for our family of 4. The location was definitely isolated, we were only about 30-40 minutes to the skywalk at Grand Canyon West, and 30-40 minutes from Lake Mead. But really not close to anything else. Luckily we knew going in that we needed to get groceries on our way, we cooked all our meals at the house. Our boys (8 and 11) loved collecting rocks around the property and neighborhood. We took family walks at sunset. The kids didnât think they could make it without WiFi or a TV, but low and behold, they did it! We read books, played card games that we had packed with us and just had a peaceful time. We did spend one night away from the property at Grand Canyon National Park because it was 3.5 hours away. Our only problem was that the guest shower knobs wouldnât work correctly and we couldnât get the water to turn off at first, luckily my husband is handy, but I was worried we would use too much water since this house is on âwater haulâ and has to be trucked in. We never ran out of water though and even though there was water pressure issues, it was a good lesson for our kids about water conservation. Janene was very responsive to any and all our questions. We loved the personal touches for our stay (the kids are still talking about their mints). The Brunks are very gracious hosts!
Our first time to AZ and our stay at the Hide Away could not have been better! Host was thoughtful with home preparations (immaculately clean and welcoming), great info binder with suggestions on hiking, eating out, sightseeing, etc. Accommodations were great, small grill, well equipped kitchen with food staples, nice deck with sunrise view of mountains and Joshua trees, and enclosed patio for spectacular sunset views! Highly recommend!
Everything about this place (the view, the neighborhood) was amazing except for the beds. Me and my boyfriend hardly slept at all, all the beds are super firm and uncomfortable. We ended up making a pallet on the floor half way into our stay because of how restless we were in the rooms. Other than the sleeping situation, everything was great.
Great place and location. Host was amazing and thought of everything. Super clean. Returning soon.
Host was amazing and helpful. House was clean and well appointed. We had everything we needed even before we thought about it. Iâd give it ten stars if I could. Location is perfect for anyone that loves nature and a must for any Joshua Tree friends. Hikes right out the back door. Concerned about no internet but phone service was perfect. Pellet stove was a great touch for those cold nights. Canât wait to go back. Thank you!!!
The house and view were incredible! Janene is an outstanding and responsive host. We had a great time enjoying the house and surrounding nature. HIGHLY recommend.
