Sanctuary Inn was clean, comfortable, spacious and peaceful. The beds were sensational. It could certainly do with more trees or other shade for cars (but so could the whole country!) but otherwise excellent.
The property was not was what was depicted in the photos on line. It just had a strange vibe all together. Very isolated to the township of Hastings. Has an onsite restaurant that had very average reviews so we Uber ordered instead. No staff to assist with check in, just had to enter reception and grab key. We weren't sure that we had even paid for the night, turned out we hadn't - we could have just left but we aren't that type of person. Very odd hotel indeed!
Room smaller than in photos and overpriced for what we got $300 per/n. Staff were not professional. Amenities such as pool advertised, but staff stated it wasnât open to public due to duck faeces and have not cleaned it. When went to have a look at pool, it was pretty gross. Then I saw people swim in it, so very confused. Very far from hot springs and Mornington where all the shops are. Was a last minute booking which I regret. Wonât come back, and donât recommend.
The owners are friendly, accommodating and were very helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was nice. I had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay.

A fantastic stay. Really well laid out room, clean and up to date appliances. Great set-up.
Would highly recommend the Toscano restaurant attached to the hotel as well.
Got charged extra 100 for room without notice and got told breakfast was included on check in even they called room to comfirm upon fi ishi g breakfast was change another 75 .
A very welcoming and comfortable room which was easily accessible supported by an after hours lock box access to the room key. Bus transport was convenient and walking distance to shops. Room was clean and included complimentary coffee and milk. While I didn't drive, there was plenty of on site parking.
