The Waterfall House is nestled among authentic Rusticos above Mesocco, just a 5-minute walk to a waterfall with a natural pool.
Perfect for summer retreats or winter escapes, it features designer furniture and contemporary artworks. Adjacent is a goat barn showcasing one contemporary artwork at a time and a 24/7 self-service coffee bar.
Summer months:
Hike, swim, read, retreat
Winter months:
A 15-minute drive to San Bernardino Ski Resort.
Although the house is modest, it is adequately equipped and perfect for a short or long stay with friends and/or family.
It consists of three floors:
The ground floor has the entrance, main bathroom, a tool room, and an earth cellar.
The first floor comprises the kitchen, living room, and a single bedroom.
Between the first and second floors is an additional small toilet.
On the second floor, there is a futon room that can accommodate up to 4 adults or 6 kids, as well as a master bedroom with a double bed and another single bedroom.
All bedrooms except the futon rooms are equipped with small home office or writing desks.
The living room features a grand stone oven that provides ample warmth after several hours of heating.
The kitchen is fully equipped and has an electric stove to cook.
The upstairs bedrooms are not heated except for an electronic mobile heater. In the winter months, cherry stone pillows are available to preheat your beds.
The house has a dining table right in front of it, and just a few steps further, next to a freshly planted apple tree, there is a garden area with another large table and a sun umbrella.
You can drive right up to the house by car, but as the road does not continue, there is no traffic. Children can play freely here. The neighborhood is very friendly and open-minded, and people help each other while enjoying their privacy at the same time. In the evening, you can take a walk down to the village of Mesocco and stop at one of the restaurants.
A haven for art and design lovers:
The Waterfall House combines simplicity with designer furniture and artworks by both emerging and well-established contemporary artists. Adjacent to the house is a former goat barn, now repurposed to showcase one artwork at a time. The barn also hosts a farm shop-inspired self-service coffee bar, open 24/7 to the public. The Waterfall House itself remains private and accessible only to guests.
Summer Months
During the summer, the house is ideal for everyone—whether for a relaxing family retreat, a creative escape, or a weekend with friends. However, please note that the house does not have wheelchair access.
Winter Months
In winter, the house offers a more rustic experience and is suited for adventurous guests who enjoy the charm of traditional wood heating.
Here’s what to know:
Heating:
• The living room has a highly efficient wood-burning stone oven.
• A second wood oven in the kitchen and a mobile electric heater provide additional warmth.
• The downstairs bathroom features a small electric heater.
• The third floor (housing three of the four bedrooms) can be heated with small electric radiators.
Guests must follow the wood heating manual carefully to ensure a warm and cozy stay.
Proximity to winter activities:
• The San Bernardino Ski Resort is only a 15-minute drive away, offering alpine skiing, cross-country trails, and winter hiking paths.
