The property was clean, functional for post op surgery. Eating places within walking distance. The only thing that I wish was told to us was the construction work that was going to be done next door. It was a little bit of a disturbance when recovering but nothing that will be consistently an issue with the property. Eventually the construction will be complete.
Honest review: Norwin, the host, was polite and accessible, as I contacted him several times leading up to our stay and once during our stay. The location was great, and the neighborhood was decent and quiet, which was very important to us. The lock key box was a little tricky to open, but we managed after a while. The place was clean and had complimentary coffee items and bath products. All the basic needs were there for our stay except a cutting board, but we made it work. Also, the AC took us a while to figure out how to adjust.Although there is a TV in the living room, I wished there was one in the master bedroom because the mattress in the master bedroom was comfortable, as opposed to the couch in the living room, which has bottomed out a few places, and we couldn't relax on it. Hopefully, this can be addressed. Overall, we had a nice stay and would recommend it to others.
The house was well furnished and stocked. Everything was clean, and the check-in/out process was very easy. Great location in a neighborhood, just a quick drive to Coral Gables or Downtown Miami. The laundry on the back patio is coin operated which was not originally listed in the description. Also, the room with the bunk bed is very small and dark. Perfectly fine for sleeping though. Overall 4.5 / 5 star experience.
Okay, place to stay if you won't be there much and don't need to sleep
I picked this place because of its great stars, I am sorry this may bring it down but I received one email from VRBO saying here are your online keys with no keys. The housekeeper contacted me via messenger 2 days prior asking what time I was arriving (probably for cleaning times). The entire conversation was in Spanish, despite me telling her I speak English. I had to translate everything! When I arrived I thougbt I would fin information about opening the location but I did not, I called the property owner and he kindly answered his phone and said he sent me everything but I have poured through all my inbox, deleted and spam with nothing. Maybe my email was typed incorrextly? I hope i did everything right. The main bedroom has a huge livht outside one of the windows so we had to put towels ocer tje window to darken it a bit. The worst was the bunk beds! They are made out of aluminum and in a room with no fan! Everytime someone moves they make a terrible creeking noise and the tiny room is so stiffling with no window or fan (old pantry?) Additionally, the bathroom vanity and quite a few small ants ceawling on it. I took a toilet paper and tried to get them but not sure where they were coming from. I have been to several vacation rentals and this was by far my least favorite but one of the highest rate Not sure why!
Upon first arriving we were content with the apartment. The online photos accurately displayed the apartment and it seemed comfortable enough. The bunkbed room was a tight squeeze but for the sake of a short stay was sufficient to suffice. However, immediately after exploring the small place, I noticed a rodent(a rat) peeking out from behind the couch. Our presence scared it out of hiding and it ran further into the apartment and hid in the hall closet/duct work.Norton, our host, responded to our call immediately and Said he would organize an exterminator for the following morning between 9-10am.The following morning no one showed up during that time period. My children were still in the apartment but my husband and I had an appointment. We left and were contacted by his house manager Marta who said she was coming with the exterminator -two hours after the designated time. I asked her not to come since my children were inside. She said she was already arriving and when I got upset about her entering with another stranger while my children were inside she said they were fumigating the exterior only.Fumigation does not get rid of rodents. So the rat was our companion for the entirety of our stay (kept us up at night with its night doings).Aside from the rat issue, there was no mention that there was construction in the lot directly next to Norwinâs. From first thing in the morning until end of day, the workers were building, hammering and yelling. Not a restful stay.
The cleanliness was really good but there were some issues. The one "bedroom" was the pantry off the kitchen with a bunk bed that wasn't very sturdy for adults to sleep in. There wasn't a window in there and just an accordion door for privacy. No plugs to charge phones and the water heater was on the wall in there. The water pressure was non-existent. The hot water kept going away as you took a shower. The other bedroom was spacious with a queen size bed. As for the communication, I received a message from the owner a few days before we arrived and I answered his questions and I asked a question and they never responded.
We stayed three nights while exploring Miami. The location was great, near several interesting restaurants, and easy driving distance from downtown. The kitchen and bath seem newly renovated. The second bedroom was smaller than I expected but we made it work. The outdoor area (by the laundry equipment) was also very small. Our only complaint is that the owner never answered two messages. I certainly hoped for a response to the second message, about a rodent that got into food on the kitchen counter.
We first arrived and water heater was off but was resolved within the hour. Informed host and was told to contact cleaning lady. I informed her the iron and coffee maker were also not working. The next day, we ran out of toilet paper! 3 adults with 1.5 rolls is not sufficient. I reached out to both and nobreaolution with text messages to prove. We went about a day without toilet paper! When i informed host, he said cleaning lady left 3 rolls? I have texts stating she only left 1.asked for aome kind of co.pensation and was turned down. Never again
