A very good value
This is the second time I've stayed at the Passport Inn & Suite in Middletown CT in the last six months. The owner/manager are very efficient & courteous. Rooms (the ones I've occupied) are very spacious. This is not a fancy place, i.e. no fitness room or business center, but the bed was comfy, the room was clean, quiet, and served my purposes well. I I would not have stayed there a second time if I were not pleased.

three stars
We just spent one night because my sister lives in walking distance, we attended a birthday party at her home.
Although the hotel was a short drive from Wesleyan University, I would have liked to be closer. The hotel was more like a cheap motel. It was old and dingy, and it was stained and smelled of smoke. No coffee maker in the room.

It is what it is?
It appears to be under renovation; I would highly, highly suggest asking for/demanding a room on the 2nd floor for the time being. Our room on the first floor was not in very good shape. If you look past the rough appearance, you do notice that the place is clean and the bed is clean. The staff was very nice (we got free donuts and coffee in the morning) and there wasn't much noise at all. It was what it was. I would recommend it as long as you can get a room on the second floor (or, if they give you a room on the first, make sure that you can see the room beforehand and that it's to your liking.
The hotel appearanc inside including the rooms was bad. I would not stay there again.

Cheap and friendly, but kind of sketchy
A cinderblock motel that's been taken over by a nice family. It was sort of a caricature of a decent hotel.
The creepiest thing about the hotel was the mirrored drop-ceiling tiles not-quite-centereed over the bed.
