The cabin itself was fine. The location was less than desirable. It is in the middle of an RV park. A very crowded RV park. Also, incredibly close to route 191 with lots and lots of traffic. The VRBO photos lead one to believe that the cabin is a bit isolated. It is not. All that being said, the cabin itself was comfortable, clean and well provisioned.
I didn't think I'd be surrounded by caravans and bungalows. Nor did I think that the chalet was just a few meters from the road, and therefore subject to the noise pollution you can imagine (lots of trucks on this road). In addition, the light from the air-conditioning in the upstairs bedroom doesn't make sleeping any easier, nor does the upstairs window which has no curtain, and the top of the front door which also takes light to the ground floor at night.Otherwise, the chalet itself is quite nice.
We looked at a few options in/around Moab before deciding to chose the remote cabin with a cool view. We figured while we wouldn't have walkable access to downtown, at least we could chill in our own space. Nope. When we drove up we realized our cabin is in the middle of an RV campground. I don't know if the picture is faked or just extremely carefully framed, but you're gonna be super intimate with bunch of RVs; that's the situation. As we drove up and came to this realization, we almost turned around to give up on the paid reservation and go figure something else out, but gosh we already paid for it and we were tired, so we pulled in to figure it out. It was fine. The cabin was fine. There's a pull-out bed downstairs and a normal bed upstairs, and a decent kitchen. It was fine. But I'm knocking off stars because the expectations fell so short of the reality.
Overall we had a very good stay there. Reed was very friendly and helpful, loaned us a new coffee maker when we asked. Great spot to stargaze. Very spacious and comfortable main floor. Upper loft was very open. It was very cold outside, but the heater downstairs and the split upstairs were great. When we arrived, the bathroom toilet bowl was dirty but we cleaned it out. The washing machine was dirty and leaked. Overall, though, we enjoyed the place and were glad we stayed there. Thank you.
The cabin was clean and comfortable. Checking in was easy except that the address on VRBO led us to the wrong driveway a few hundred yards south of the entrance. Based on the pictures, we'd expected a more secluded setting, so were surprised to find it in the middle of an RV park very close to Hwy 191. It was quiet though during our early-February stay. (Would feel quite different in a busier season, we imagine.) Great bed and bedding in the loft bedroom up a narrow spiral staircase (the only bathroom is downstairs). Comfortable couch and chairs, plenty of hot water for bathtub and shower, good kitchen. Indoor table and dining chairs for only two people (2 tray tables also available). Great wrap-around deck with more tables, chairs, grill, etc. but we didn't use in the February cold.
The cabin built in the 1950s is the original homestead of the land. Nice size for family of 2 to 4. Was chilly in the mornings but warmed up quickly. Was surprised to find a was in an RV park. Laundry facility is new and noce.
I have really mixed reviews of this place. The cabin itself was cozy, comfortable, and inviting which we loved. The view was amazing. However, the pictures were a little misleading. My impression was that this cabin would be a little secluded which was what I had hoped for. It is not. It is right next to the busy at all hours highway and smack dab in the middle of an RV park. I was not expecting that. The cabin says it has a washer and a dryer. There was not laundry available in the cabin itself, rather in another building in the RV park. The location was nearby Arches and Canyonlands which was why we wanted to stay here. It's a few miles outside of Moab.
