The house was just as pictured. The only surprise was having to meet someone in town to follow them to the house. Driveway was a challenge, but once we got used to it, it was easy to find.
Guido had the pool ready for us earlier than he had planned. And we certainly enjoyed it. The views are stunning and the sunsets are incredible. Our goal was to centrally locate and then visit all the surrounding areas of Umbria, CC Perugia, Orvietto, Cortona, And many more. This was the perfect location. Monte has a great little restaurant called kilometer zero that we enjoyed several times during our stay. Any issues we had with the house, I texted Guido and within half an hour Claudia came out to the house to assist. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking, there was availability of a chef if we wanted. Good grocery stores in Orvietto. This was a great vacation house. Would definitely stay again!
We had a lovely time in Montecchio. The villa was well equipped and has amazing views. Perfectly placed for watching the sunset. Everything was very clean when we arrived and the pool was kept very clean. We mentioned that 2 of the sun beds were broken and someone was there to repair them the next morning. Lots to see and do nearby. The only negative is that the listing states that all bedrooms had air conditioning but the large downstairs bedroom did not. It got quite hot as the temperature reached 40°C while we were there.
The villa is beautifully presented. It is about 1.5km from the stunning village of montecchio - all up and down hills so walking with a pram would be very tricky off with
Villa with stellar view near a small friendly town
The view was everything in this house. Spectacular! Inside space was fine, bedrooms and bathrooms good. Screens on windows are very welcome! Kitchen was a tad small for our group of 7 adults but we made it work. There were plenty of dishes and glasses with serviceable knives, pots and pans. We didnât walk to the town as other reviewers did as it was very hot when we were there. As in many Italian towns, barking dogs can be a pain at times if you leave your windows open.
Depending on the time of the year you visit there are wild flower plantings with poppies and lavender. It was hot and dry so the grass and beds looked a little scruffy. Not a deal breaker for us but some may have different expectations.
All in all a nice villa in a nice part of Umbria with easy access to lots of other towns.
We enjoyed our stay very much. A perfect location if you are looking for tranquility. The description and photos of the house and pool fit reality. We can fully recommend the house and the area itself.
Things we liked
* The new and inside modern but outside traditionell looking house
* Terrific view (wow!!)
* Quiet location, large property, no direct neighbors
* Very well-spaced rooms
* Well equipped household (nearly everything is in place)
* Mosquito nets on all windows; thermal-double-glas-windows
Things we disliked
* The owners donât take care of the garden. The plants are dying of neglection (even the two olive trees in front of the house) - what a pity!
* The deck chairs at the pool are of good quality - but mostly all screws are loose and would need some maintenance.
* Nearly all the lamps in the house and outside are LEDs from the first generation. This means the light is cold and hospital like. Please install warm-light LEDs.
Lovely property--we had a terrific time staying here for three weeks of joint holiday/remote working. The highlight is the gorgeous patio and pool area overlooking the expansive valley and village of Montecchio. The house is all new -- maybe a bit sterile, but also super comfortable and practical in all ways (fast internet, modern appliances, washer, great air con, etc.) We loved taking the ~15 minute walk into town for gelato or a quick grocery, but spent most of our days lazing and grilling around the house. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed a wonderful vacation in this house in Montecchio. The view from the patio and pool is fantastic and we have watched marvelous sunsets from there. The house is clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our family. Both Claudia and Guido were very friendly and helpful when we needed anything.
Groceries and a bakery are available in the nearby village. The town of Orvieto which can be reached within 25min has a supermarket and a couple of very nice restaurants. The town center itself is very nice. Within 45min the beautiful lake Bolsena can be reached. Rome, Florence and Siena are in the reach for day trips.
We would love to come back another time.
