The room seemed to be in good condition and clean, and the bed was really comfortable. I only had two primary complaints. One was the sheets on one of the beds was so worn out that it actually had holes in it in several places and the other was at One of the tiles in the bathroom. Outer area was cracked, and when they reseal the tiles in some areas, they just slapped on dark grout really heavy and it looks terrible.

I don't have any complaints about my stay. The Inn is well located right across from Asilomar. My room was spacious, well- equipped with microwave, coffee pot and fridge, and parking was convenient (right outside my door!). The woman who checked me in was friendly and quick. Only minor disappointments were the lack of fan for the fireplace (so it was mostly for ambiance) and the pillows were not very comfortable (had to stack a couple). I would definitely stay at Deer Haven Inn again!

Hidden gem! Everything you expect out of a nice motel - big rooms, clean, plenty of parking - but you can walk to the beach! Very quiet too. We'll be back soon!

We go to Asilomar once a year around this time and have stayed in several different places right outside of the Asilomar grounds. Deer Haven was the best of all of them. My husband was in the ER on the day we were supposed to arrive, so we lost our first day there and, of course, couldn't get a refund at the last minute. That was unfortunate, but I called them and asked them to save the room for the 2nd night, and they did. The staff was very nice, and room was clean and cozy, and we enjoyed our stay.

I was contacted by the property regarding an accessible room. The first caller said that it wasn’t available. The second said it was and gave us that one and the adjacent room. On arrival we were told the accessible room was out of service due to a malfunctioning door lock, so we were given two adjacent rooms on the first floor of the two story part of the property. I didn’t understand why we weren’t given rooms in the single story units because there may have been three other guests in the entire inn. There is no continental breakfast. The room conditions were adequate, nice fireplace, fairly quiet heater, good beds. The interior decor is in need of updating. The problem is that most properties in Pacific Grove are like private homes in the area: old and in need of updating, which some would call rustic or charming.
