Mountain Paradise
We recently spent a long weekend at Buckhorn Lodge. Our primary reason for choosing it was the mountain location and 57 acres. Even going in with high expectations, they were exceeded! The lodge itself is a great blend of rustic and comfortable, up on a ridge with a great view. The real star however was the property. We never left the property and spent our days hiking and exploring. According to my GPS watch, there's nearly 4 miles of gravel roads and hiking trails, including a favorite trail that goes from the house to the pond. It was like having our own slice of a national park, complete with a mountain stream. We also loved having fires in the fire pit at the lake. We went down a couple of nights for some phenomenal star gazing. At the end of each day we enjoyed the hot tub. We used it every night and it was a great way to relax while looking at the stars. We look forward to returning to Buckhorn Lodge! One note - AWD/4WD is truly a good idea. A couple of hills peaked out at 17 degree inclines, and even with dry conditions, 4WD was a big help. While my truck likely would've been good in 2WD, any slick conditions will definitely require AWD/4WD.
