Hotel was nice. My family enjoyed the private baths. Location wasnât good in regards to getting to the ski slopes and restaurants. If you get breakfast included, you cook it yourself- itâs just the raw ingredients. The room was huge and lovely for our family of 5. We were comfortable in the winter. We travelled with another family (of 4) who booked the same room type but theirs was much smaller and they froze because their heating was different. I loved the room and private baths (my kids loved the shower while I soaked) but the location and the amenities fell flat. We, and the family we travelled with, felt the price was far too much and would not book again. Weâd stay at a resort attached to the slopes for a bit more.
The hotel seemed to go through a recent renovation so the interior of the buildings are fairly new. We originally booked a standard room and it looked great but upon further inspection the room did not seem to have been cleaned except for the bathroom before our check-in. There was dust everywhere on the surfaces and floors, the floors were crunchy and we found dead bugs and a wrapper in the closet area, the sheets and towels were dusty and had a dark stain. The bed looked like someone actually had slept in it before. Then it got worse when 4 huge beetle bugs kept flicking to our bed when we were about to go to sleep. The building is old so understandable but because the room was so dirty it probably did not help. The hotel staff switched us to an upgraded suite and it was extremely clean and we didnât have any issues since. The hotel service was not great and found the language barrier was a bit difficult. They do seem a bit understaffed and the turnover in people seem to be high day to day. The restaurant service was terrible. The hotel is very far out from Hakuba area so would recommend a car otherwise difficult to get around. Hotel could be great if they invested in proper hotel customer service and ensured proper cleaning and maintenance of rooms.
