The staff were friendly and the location was beautiful. The property and the room were quite run down. We couldn't use the outdoor hot tub because the lock was broken. There were many things that didn't work in the room and the last morning we woke up there was no running water in the room.

Clean modern rooms, Beautiful grounds! Well manicured, so many amenities! I enjoyed the swimming pool, Sauna, great hot tub outdoors! Took advantage of the spa and had a fantastic massage! Gorgeous views from the Gazebo. Relaxed and enjoyed the ocean! Fantastic property.

Lovely room ... Sadly our neighbours were cooking a twice set off the fire alarm at 10:30pm... They were also noisy... It would also be nice to have the option of tea in the room and milk.... The staff were helpful over this but shouldn't have to ask. Delicious supper was a bonus.

The Bay Area was beautiful! However the rooms are very dated. No AC and the walk to the beach was further then the other properties.

The rooms were poorly stocked and did not have air conditioners. They didn't even have ceiling fans. The only window was a small sliding door with no screen. It was sweltering. We had half a roll of toilet paper and only two coffee pods for a two person, two night stay. We were so hot and miserable the second night we left at 5am.

The rooms were a bit tired and having no AC in the rooms at all is dated. The island regularly hits ~30C in the summer these days and with the recent fires keeping any windows open was not an option. With some work could be quite nice.

This place has all you need, on top of being beautiful! On the contrary to other reviews, I think they communicate their facilities very clearly online. Service was also great from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the activity rentals. Pacific Shores has an absolutely beautiful sunset location too. The rooms are more on the dated side maybe but the theyre comfortable and efficient (we were in the suite so we loved the kitchen and washer/dryer!!). Our whale watching tour was also canceled due to winds so we were so thankful for the kayak rentals they do for free. We saw a couple of seals breaching out of the water and the view around the bay overall was so nice. Would love to visit again.

I found the bed awfully uncomfortable. I have some health challenges and the temperature outside was over 80 degrees each day with NO air conditioning! I couldn’t believe that an establishment of this caliber had no air conditioning. I found a beat up old fan in the closet I dragged out but it merely blew hot air around while I tossed and turned on the hardest mattress I think I’ve ever slept on. . I paid for 5 nights and stayed one. Never even asked for a refund because everything I read was no refunds!! I left and then paid for a room in a 3 star hotel where the bed was very comfortable and they had air conditioning! Although it doesn’t list air in their literature they really should make you aware of it prior to check in so you can cancel if need be. They were in a heat wave so they knew what the weather forecast was. I also paid for all 5 days and received 4 bottles of water. I couldn’t find any restaurants on site but there could have been. Didn’t see any signage of such. Just an all around bad experience at Pacific Shores in Nanaimo! Was hopeful that it would be a nice relaxing stay on the water but was none of that.

The amenities are great, especially with a young child. The restaurant was great and so was the spa. The beach access is plenty. The rooms are a bit dated and there is no AC in the rooms. We went during high temperatures and really struggled with the heat in the rooms.

The waterfront walk is awesome, you can borrow kayaks and paddle boards to explore more of the bay. The room was not clean, the floors were dirty, the bathroom mirror still had toothpaste splatter from the last guests, and there were mildew stains in the bathroom grout. The mattress was ok, but the bed frame was wobbly and hanging on by a thread. There is also no soundproofing between units so you'll hear everyone walking and talking in the units around yours.
