Awesome location and next door to wedding we were attending. Very sizable lake property with plenty of room and activities for large group. The cleanliness was OK, but needs some maintenance of the property. Lower level bathroom sink does not have defuser, dead mouse in closet, WiFi not accessible, and soiled mattress pads. Facility is rustic and not luxurious, but a great lakeside experience.
Classic campy lake house. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean. There were some cobwebs, but we loved the big screened in porch. Lake itself was busy on the weekends but nice and quiet during the week. Sad that we couldn't use the fireplace or wood stove since the end of the summer in Maine can have chilly mornings. We would have booked again for next year, but the price has gone up significantly.
We had a family of 7 with very hot weather. The cabin was an "upscale cabin", but was not equipped for hot weather. 3 window a/c units and 1 ceiling fan was not enough. The cabin needed a deep clean (curtains, windows, fans) were dirty. The paths to the water were not easy for anyone. Many pine needles lead to slippery walk and "stairs" were steep. The outside laundry area was not easy to get into. Only 3 water glasses was not sufficient. Listed as queen bed was only a double. The porch was the best part of the home. The house was not worth the cost.
We loved the kitchen, sitting area and wrap around porch. The water system/pressure needs to be reviewed. We have a cabin and had a similar problem. But someone unfamiliar will be alarmed by the spitting and noises from toilets and faucets. I tried to contact Vacasa but received a form type response. The WiFi was unusable. It was constantly turning off and on. Since I needed to do some work, I had to use my phone as a hot spot. The main reason that we chose this house was the advertised sand beach. It was very difficult to get to and we only used it once. If the WiFi, water and beach hadnât been a problem, I would give this house a great rating.
We didnât have power at the boat so we had to throw so food away. A maintenance man was fixing the road and blew a fuse so we didnât have access to reset the breaker. Also when cooking breakfast we had to reset breakers as well.
The house was a bit dusty as well and the laundry area smelled musty
We had a good week at the house with a large screened-in porch, small beach, and dock with kayaks. It had a large, modern kitchen while retaining its Maine cottage charm.
We visited from Virginia and wanted to see several spots in southeast Maine (lighthouses, cliffs, whale-watching, quaint towns, etc). Rather than stay at multiple spots, we found this "centralized" location about an hour west from Portland. The place is as advertised. It is spacious with an amazing screened in back porch. 200-300 mbps internet. Equipped kitchen. Everything. If you didn't want a day-trip, you could stay and kayak, fish, or swim. It has its own little beach with a slow easy slope for dogs or kids. Never saw a neighbor. Our dogs loved the porch and water. Highly recommended. Celebrated our last night in the house by making a lobster dinner.
While this house was in a wonderful location, right on the lake, we did have several issues that negatively affected our stay. Upon arrival, there was no binder or even one page of instructions regarding the home. No instructions on how to operate the tvs or the security system, where to put trash out, etc When we turned the oven on it began to smoke! It obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while and we were unable to use it. The outbuilding with the life vests was locked and we had to hunt around til we found LOTS of old keys and had to try them all! And the additional beds in that building still had the dirty/messy sheets and blankets from the previous guests; housekeeping clearly had done nothing in there. Housekeeping didn't clean the fridge either and there was old ice cream left in the freezer. The pots and pans and dishes were all very old and worn out. I had to buy a new pan to use. It looked as though no one had vacuumed or dusted in a while. All the furniture seemed quite old and worn out. One positive note was that they provided LOTS of towels. It was a nice touch to provide small hotel toiletries, but there were 4 bottes of conditioner and only 1 shampoo. I found Vacasa's responses to my various requests for assistance very frustrating. I do not have enough characters to elaborate in this review unfortunately. I am unsure if I would be willing to rent another Vacasa property in the future.
