While the property met expectations from the listing, here are the main elements that made this a disappointing home to stay in and not very comfortable:- Home was very dusty, old rugs and carpeting that appeared to not be vacuumed or cared for- Broken screen sliding door that fell off track easily- Foul odor in both bathrooms with visible mold in downstairs bedroom and both bathrooms - Had to contact property manager for issues with lock code- Trash had not been collected prior to or during our stayThe location was fine and the home has a nice firepit and easy walking access to a small beach. With that, we fortunately were spending most of our time out of the home as sleeping and showering was unpleasant.
This is camp with minimal upkeep done, old furniture and poor repairs. The house was not clean. The only windows in the living room kitchen area were the sliding doors to the deck. One door had a screen and the other opened onto a screened in area that had ripped screens with gaps between them that let wasps and mosquitos in. The ceiling fans were so full of dust and dirt that we didn't turn them on. The queen bed was actually a full bed. The futons downstairs were so dirty we didn't want to sit on them even to escape the heat. The water pressure was very low in the shower. The surrounding houses are very close. We were up for a funeral so we were happy to get a last minute booking anywhere in the area. I wouldn't rent here again.
Overall, the house was fine, but a few issues did make the stay less pleasant than it should have been.
Primarily, the master bedroom bed is a full size, NOT queen as advertised. It also feels like sleeping on pile of bricks. The caretaker brought a foam top after we complained, which was appreciated, but we still opted to move to the much softer queen bed in the basement.
The dishwasher was broken when we arrived. Not the ownerâs fault, I realize, but no one ever responded to my VRBO message and it took a while to figure out how to report the issue to Vacasa. Eventually the caretaker stopped by and determined the dishwasher couldnât be fixed during our trip. I found it odd that we never received any communication or apology or anything from the host.
The kitchen was fairly well supplied, with the exception of a lobster pot.
Otherwise, the location was nice and very close to the state park, where we spent the majority of our time. The screened in porch was also very nice for dinners.
The beach was great and only a short walk away from the house. The deck, patio, and outdoor fireplace and game area made it much easier to spend time outside. The surrounding towns and trails were nice to get away to. Would stay here again.
Advertisement listed biting dock, however on arrival the association members informed us we had no boating rights or access. We were forced to rent a slip for $300.00 to dock our boat. Sent a message about this 5 days ago and never received a response.
