From the moment we entered were in love with our surroundings. We enjoyed the beautiful art all around us. It was like 4 nights of living in a very cozy museum. Great experience not only for us, but for our grandchildren...Thanks so much for the hospitality!
Once again, did not disappoint. Iâve been here twice and still have not seen all the stuff in this house. It is very comfortable and relaxing in the evenings. Lots of small things that keep you looking around and finding new stuff. Will stay here anytime. Love this place
This property turned out to be exactly as described. A period home with old world charm. Decorated in a "Quirky" eclectic style but with all the modern conveniences. Each room had a story to tell. This home was warmly inviting and highly recommended.
We were in the area for a family member's retirement from the Coast Guard- This was a lovely house to come back to after family events, cool off in the AC, and relax before heading out for the next event. It was a good location (only ten minutes from family and everything we needed in town). We really enjoyed the coffee shop, Pie Bar (within walking distance!) - good coffee and breakfast biscuits. Each room in the house was unique and had so much to look at! We appreciated the provided snacks and how well stocked the kitchen was. Beds were comfortable. The yard was nice to sit in and acclimate to the humidity! Great spot!
The house is a gem. Each room has it's own personality. Antiques abound. I cannot express how delightful this house was. Best Vrbo rental we have had yet.
Amazing home. Had a hard time figuring out which rooms to hang out in the most. Love the trains at night. Excellent host, very thoughtful. The accomodations were wunderbar!
Wonderful property. We loved the quality of house and the way it was equipped. Iâve rented houses in many places both in Europe and the US. This one sets a new standard of Excellence. Itâs a special place.
I came to town for work for a week and decided to stay here instead of a hotel. The house was well stocked, especially the kitchen. An intresting place to stay. Nice and clean and good communicating from the owners. The train line out the back is a little loud, but that would be the case staying anywhere in town. Really enjoyed the stay and would go back.
This was my second time staying here and it is absolutely beautiful! If you love all things art, vintage, and history, youâll love this home. The home is always spotless. The kitchen is stocked for every need and the towels are stocked for plenty of showers! Although we didnât use it, the fire pit was ready for use as well!
We reserved this property for our friends that were going through a difficult time. They informed us that they really enjoyed the solitude and the comfort of the upstairs beds. Based on their experience I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quaint getaway.
Great owner. Great house. Great beds. Great location. Close to everything we needed. Such a fun property!! Everything we needed was there!! We had such a fun time in very unique and fun home!!
This was my second stay here and it was even better than I remembered. Our group loved discovering all the unique decorative details. The kitchen and laundry facilities remain the best I have ever found at a vacation rental - we had everything we needed to cook homemade meals. Doug quickly responded to any questions or needs. If you're traveling to New Iberia with your family or a group of friends I highly recommended this rental.
This house was perfect for our family of five adults. Very unique rooms with comfy beds and soft linens. Lots of little extras that you donât see from other owners.
The back yard has a huge privacy fence, a nice fire pit, even tiki torches- all combined it made for perfect evenings sitting outside visiting.
We hope this is available on our next visit to New Iberia. :)
we were wowed by this lovely, unique home! It was comfortable with all of the finest finishes. It's charm not only as a historic house but also how it was decorated and furnished made it the perfect place to stay!!
This is--without any exaggeration--the most well appointed and welcoming vacation rental I've set foot in. Every inch of the home is decorated with tons of character like an interior designer's playground. There are so many interesting architectural features, too, that made us all curious about the history of this unique home. All the appliances are high end, no corner is cut. And the host is very nice and communicative. Our stay was the most laid back experience.
I primarily chose to stay here for the location, which was very close to the activities we were in town for. I would love to come back and enjoy the home itself. Because we were out all day and really only there to sleep, it felt like there was more to enjoy if we had time to relax there.
The home is on a busyish main thoroughfare but set back nicely so that it feels private. It's a little sanctuary set back from the hustle and bustle. The charming downtown and Bayou Teche are within walking distance so there is plenty to do without going far. There are train tracks nearby but this is going to be the case for every home in this neighborhood.
I am glad I didn't bring my young child with me, there is way too much precious stuff here that I wouldn't be comfortable with him there. But for adults or even older kids, this is an amazing place to stay and enjoy not only New Iberia but this amazing home. If you're coming to do something that will have you out all day, book an extra day just to enjoy this wonderful home.
Stayed at this property for the second time this year. Iâm born and raised in the area and had to come down for my parentâs 48th wedding anniversary. I still love everything about this property and itâs really a GEM of a place to rent in that area. The location is great. And Doug is amazing to work with. Thanks again for everything!
Enjoyed taking in all the updates plus designer/antique touches. Located close to downtown
We enjoyed our long weekend. Loved taking in all of the designer and antique touches. Great cooling system during hot weather this summer. Well stocked kitchen with basic items, snacks and specialty ice cubes. Towels and linens smelled so fresh. Very clean house. Restaurants, shopping and art gallery nearby. No issues with management.
Colorful and Cozy Chateau with Outstanding Hospitality
It was a treat to spend two weeks at this gem in downtown New Iberia. The host's attention to detail is everywhere, from the eclectic decor and eye-popping wallpaper, brand new appliances, and well-stocked kitchen. Usually I end up having to buy some practical item a rental is missing but this one had an abundance of pots, pans, dishcloths, towels, plastic food storage containers, and even Ziploc bags. The beds were comfortable and every bedroom had closet hangers and a luggage rack available. Morning light in the sunroom was another favorite feature.
You do hear the trains on the track behind the house but honestly there is nowhere in downtown New Iberia that doesn't get railroad noise. We adjusted and soon barely noticed it at all.
Our communication with Douglas was always wonderful. He responded quickly to questions and made sure our every need was met. This was truly one of my best vacation rental experiences, and I can't wait to stay here again.
The restored home is reminiscent of a simpler time with nothing missed in the details! From the moment you open the door you are transported to another time and everything feels thoughtful and important. The coziness of each room is highlighted by the antiques, the exquisite wallpaper and all the fine details including the linens, towels, and amenities of home. The experience is truly 6 stars! Be sure and bring your ear plugs for the toot toot train nightly but again itâs a gentile step back in time and everything moves a little more slowly. Highly recommend and would love to visit again! Close proximity to quaint Main Street, short drive to Avery Island and Rip Van Winkle Gardens. If you want 21st century chains and restaurants itâs 3 min away, but I recommend the local fare hands down!
