This would have been a much more pleasant stay if there was more communication from the renter. Unfortunately I did not hear from them until 3:50pm same day as check-in and I had to call and message first. They then told us to go to a different address than what was listed on vrbo which caused a bit of confusion for us. Overall, just a stressful check-in process because they don't want to tell you where you are really staying or how the check-in works until it is too late.
My daughter and I stayed in a different property than this one, they had to move us because of some plumbing issues at the one we booked. But no matter, the place we ended up staying was absolutely amazing! It was probably better than the one that we were booked for because we were just a couple of blocks from Lincoln Center the property itself was very clean and easy to get in and out of. I would absolutely want to book with this company again!
Extremely convenient for any activities on UWS and easy access to Central Park and public transport. Small, as expected for NYC. Communication for check-in was a bit confusing, but worked out. Got no reply to a followup question- we had only one key so that required a lot of coordination with my family member. Bathroom was a bit mildewy and towels had stains, but sheets very clean and soft. Kitchenette is functional. Overall we were happy with the stay, especially the location.
Highly recommend you do NOT book this property or any other owned/managed by NYCShortStays. We had an experience very similar to a previous reviewer. No response to repeated requests to confirm and get instructions until 1/2 hour before check in when we were finally called and told there was a maintenance issue and they would have to move us for the night to another unit. We were told to pick up keys from a box at a separate location. Since we had reservations to get to, we didnât see the replacement unit until 11pm, only to find it was filthy and in poor condition. Hairballs and detritus on the floor, smoking odor, substandard bedsâŠAnd with no elevator, we had to carry our luggage up 4 flights of stairs. We contacted the owner through the Vrbo app in the morning to complain. At almost noon, they texted asking if we were ready to move into our unit and gave us the address. As we were walking, we realized this Still wasnât our booked apartment. Although it was cleaner, we were given a smaller (1 bedroom instead of 2) unit 6 blocks away and still no elevator. The whole experience certainly had the feel of a bait and switch. Owners/managers (because it was never clear who you were talking to) became unresponsive to further messages. Called VRBO customer service Sat am. In the end, they did not care that the property listed was never provided. So much for a book with confidence guarantee. Repeated calls to the owner from home did result in an unsatisfactory small refund.
We were promised a 2BR place in Amsterdam, and were told it wasnât available at the last minute. We donât know low who ran or owned the unit and they refused any communication with us benfore we flew in from LA. Do not stay here. The place did not exist!!!
The apartment was a charming two-bedroom unit typical of the Upper West Side in New York. Its location was conveniently close to all the attractions we intended to visit, and the subway station was just three blocks away, providing easy access to Brooklyn, Princeton, and the rest of the boroughs. I would highly recommend this stayâit was peaceful and, for lack of a better term, very inviting. My teenagers, who are all over 6â2â, found it to be quite comfortable as well.
