As other reviewers have mentioned the Holiday Inn downtown Brooklyn is tired & in need of refurbishment However it’s clean & in a convenient location with a subway station very near that will get you pretty much anywhere you want to be, it’s also handy for a quick transfer from JFK using the airtrain & LIRR with only a short walk from the station, note … if you get the breakfast package it’s not a buffet but the attached south/western / Mexican restaurant provides diner style food from a large menu, the food is very good but as you have to sign the check against your room # they expect a tip against the amount which was $40 for 2 ….. so just be aware that the breakfast is going to cost you something in tips ,also worth mentioning is the ongoing building work right across the road which look to be a lengthy job , they start early & make plenty of noise so avoid front facing rooms ,would I stay again? I would certainly look around as definitely better available but for the convenience if it was cheap maybe

Bit overpriced for overall outdated accommodations.. - pool and sauna were under renovation over the weekend but was only informed during check-in - room had some seeds/food on floor upon arrival - cards were “deactivated” during our stay, when we were booked for 2 consecutive nights. - ice machine were out of order - stairwell exit floor were sticky, had to use as elevators were always busy Decent when you just want a place to sleep and leave.

Not so golden stay

Systems issues at check-in after 3 p.m. One staff didn't consider clients that were waiting until the server hiccup was resolved. She aided a newly arrived group and gave them a free upgrade. There was a larger family who was there prior and was kept waiting. We were given an older room in need of repairs (A/C+). Front desk staff was a hit or miss. The plusses were the lifeguards on duty and the hot tub+ pool area (crowded). Don't count on the steam room and dry sauna though. Location was a 5-10 minute walk to BAM & Barclays/Atlantic Terminal. Overpriced so shop around for a better value.

All the plugs were loose or inoperative. The chair and desk were in very bad shape, the reading light would not snap into place to shut off. We had to unplug it from the wall. Our room was quiet and was clean. We were charged $150 on our credit card after checking out for no known reason, no prior notice, or communication. Multiple attempts to contact the property directly have been unsuccessful due to AI. Unless you want to spend an hour on the phone with your bank, I would not take the chance of staying here.

The room was very basic, no amenities like coffee or water. The bed was very comfortable. The staff when we checked in were very friendly and helpful. Later, when I tried to get some extra towels, I had to call three times before they came and the girl I spoke to at the front desk sounded miserable and annoyed. We chose the hotel for the hot tub and pool and I have never seen a more disgusting pool. The water was cloudy and tiles were caked with dirt. The wheelchair lifts were rusted over and there were chunks of tiles missing on the floor and on the seats in the steam room. Needless to say we did not go back to the pool.

Some of the staff were really lovely and helpful. It was difficult to get things sent to the room. I had to call for some extra towels three times before they arrived and the girl I spoke to sounded miserable and annoyed. The room was basic, no amenities like water or coffee. But the bed was pretty comfortable. We chose the hotel for the hot tub and went down on our first night. I have never seen a more disgusting pool. It looked like it had never been cleaned, the water was cloudy and the tiles were caked with dirt. The wheelchair lifts were rusted over and the steam room had chunks of tile missing on the floor and seats. Needless to say we didn’t go back to the pool.
