Booked a superior room, given a standard (despite questioning it). Breakfast was a disaster... took our order then 45 minutes later nothing. Reordered and then breakfast arrived but was wrong, cold, and missing items. Room smelt of smoke. I wouldn’t recommend or ever return

Great stay and food was excellent

Pros: Food, service
Cons: Exit light in the bedroom
Location: Bombay Distillery - 15 minute drive or £35 each way in a cab for up top 8 people approx
We were a large group staying over & visiting the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery. We managed to check in early - room was very cosy and clean. After visiting the distillery we came back and ate as a large group and all the staff were really attentive, service was excellent. The Manager on Duty was easy to liaise with. The food was excellent - really generous portions and the chocolate and orange brownie was to die for! They made us feel very welcome and everyone was impressed. The bed was comfortable (soft) and bathroom clean. Our only gripe was the bright green exit light on the ceiling which did feel like it lit up the room far too much and we couldn't cover it (for obvious reasons!) but it was a bit difficult to sleep with. Breakfast was one of the nicest breakfasts i've had in a while - latte so thick the sugar remained on top of the foam until i stirred it. Poached eggs with spinach and bacon were amazing and couldn't fault the service once again. Overall we were really impressed and have already been recommending Carnarvon to friends. If we are in the area (we are Portsmouth-based) we will certainly make an excuse to eat here again.
