Upon greeting at the lobby we were handed over the keys from a young lady like it was a motel 8. No friendliness or info about the hotel or the amenities. The washroom was untouched from likely the 90's, old toilet, shower didn't even drain properly and room looked dated, tired and dark. Not worth the premium rate charge.

Check-in was easy and the staff were courteous and friendly. The hotel lobby was very pleasant and well decorated. Our room was in an annexe building attached to the hotel. The entrance was through a door from the car park, and we then had to negotiate a steep flight of stairs with our luggage, which was quite a feat. The room was pleasant enough, but strangely had a quite dated looking jacuzzi in the corner of the bedroom. The bathroom, with shower and toilet, was quite small, and needed some updating. Maybe more space could be utilised, by losing the jacuzzi and making the bathroom a little larger. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, and we slept very well. The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, with a large car park at the rear, next to the centre of the beautiful, picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, where there are lots of restaurants, bars and independent stores Would we stay here again? Yes, definitely in NOTL, but, sadly, not in this hotel. I think in it’s day, this property would have been ideal, but maybe it is living on it’s past reputation, rather than investing in more modern facilities for it’s guests. Just an opinion.

I would love to give the Shaw Club 5 stars but there were two things that made our stay less than ideal: There was a drip in our shower and because the shower head is in the ceiling, it had a long way to go to reach the shower floor and made a very loud noise that disturbed our sleep. Also, I found the bed a little uncomfortable. I know those are minor concerns so, otherwise, I would rate it 5 stars. The staff was really amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Overall, it's very clean and well kept. We very much appreciated that the hotel has its own parking and the location is walkable to a variety of shops and a beautiful and quaint strip. The food in the hotel restaurant is really amazing. I would absolutely stay there again and recommend it to others.

Room featured a strong and unpleasant odour we eventually attributed to air conditioning unit. Went to the bar / restaurant for a drink at 5pm and without any prompting from us were told “we can’t serve you food” (this despite a nearby table being served a meal). Went for breakfast the next morning and were told we’d “better hurry”. Never again. Awful place with unfounded pretensions.
