The hotel is located quite far from Niseko town but during the summer or autumn season it feels like a nice place to stay in. There was live band playing in the evening.
The hotel is more than nice for the price, you get more, I think is more designed for local nationals that arrive in their cars, you can rent but if you dont split the car rental fare between several people then it would be the same to stay at a ski in ski out, the hotel have shuttles to the mountain, but you have to know their location and pick up spots.
The hot springs are awesome, good breakfast included.
actually staff was as accommodating as they can be , only one restaurant on premises, limited taxi , accommodation so so, lobby is nice . rooms you can get by with somewhat, Onsen not something i want to go in , Towels not good . BUT again the staff tries their best , be prepared to take your own lugguage up, no money exchange in building so bring . shuttle is ok , but you are away from Hirafu
Place was old and run down even for ski area standards
And extremely over priced
For the quality
I stayed on Hokkaido for a month in 5 different areas and this place was by far the worst stay
And the most expensive per night ! Breakfast buffet was well below average also
As with many places in this part of Niseko, it’s getting dated. They have done some upkeep inside at least. All the investment is over in Hirafu and Hanazono.
That said, this side of town still has a lot of charm. The good backcountry skiing is over here too.
I enjoyed the onsen. The food was also good, but started to get repetitive after day 2. I stayed 4 nights and wouldn’t have wanted to do another meal per se. There are limited dining options on this side of town, but the isakaya down the hill is pretty great. I stayed at the Niseko Grand last year. I’d say both are comparable. The mixed outdoor onsen at the grand was nice though.
Kan no mori is a great hotel for the snow season. With live music, onsen, good food, great view of snow from inside, spacious room and convenient store at the lobby, it was a comfortable and good stay for me. The only inconvenience was the shuttle service which does not go to the hotel very often.
We loved this place. Exceeded our expectations. The onsen was lovely, breakfast was great and convenience store had everything we needed. Well worth the short commute to ski at Niseko united (we liked the skiing best at Annupuri anyway!)
