Stunning suite and fabulous views of Cowichan Estuary
Very comfortable and a fabulous place to watch the tide come in, with river otters and abundant wildlife. Gorgeous sunsets and moon rises. There was no freezer (it was a hot week in July--I hadn't noticed that in the listing), and no laundry (which had been in the listing, hence the 4 stars for that), but we managed with the local laundromat and daily trips out for gelato and sorbet. Very helpful service when the first entry code didn't work on arrival, and when the smoke alarm malfunctioned. Overall, 5 stars for an incredibly restful and beautiful suite and setting! We hope to come again!
My mother and I stayed here with my dogs. Itâs rural, filled with nature and you can actually hear the beautiful birds in my morning. The winding narrow road might be challenging to navigate for some but people are very good at yielding. There were great amenities here and the view was stunning. Waking up to herons at low tide was gorgeous. Although itâs rural itâs quick enough to get into town. The space was lovely and the kitchen was just fine. I know others have been opposed to the kitchen but we had no problem. The oven is smaller but not inconvenient and I donât have a microwave at home so I didnât miss that at all. Overall I would definitely return and have recommended the place to others. I will say that anyone with mobility issues may struggle with the stairs. The initial down from the cars have no railing which was challenging for my 78 year old mother. Definitely looking forward to coming back.
Overall impressions were that it was even better than we expected⊠everything, from the layout to the design to the location was perfect. Would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful location. Driveway is small, if you have a large vehicle. Windows could use a wash, ceiling was dirty. Seconds of paper-products would be appreciated, we ran out of TP on 1st day and had to buy replacement. The outdoor area is beautiful, wildlife, the ocean and trees were amazing. Very quiet.
Property was very clean with great views. Our only major cons about the property is that the kitchen is quite small and would be difficult to truly cook a family meal with the size of the appliances and sink (There is also no freezer or microwave). The wifi was not the strongest and would cut out at times. Thankfully it would come back relatively quickly, but it would disrupt the TV connection and we were forced to use a hotspot from time to time. Besides that we did have a great stay and would visit again.
The house is so so beautiful! Loved the art, bird books and details. The view and trees around are stunning.
Wasnât super clear about the beach access and that would have been nice to have given the location.
Plan your stay around staying in a fair bit since itâs totally worth it and itâs not super close to shops/restaurants - but I wouldnât say thatâs a bad thing.
Check in process was a little confusing with several emails from the renting company asking to download an app and other stuff. On the day it was easy.
Stunning house and beautiful location. Youâre overlooking the bay - breathtaking sunsets / sunrises. Sitting on a balcony overlooking the water. Abundance of birds surround the property. Highly recommend this property. Within a ten minute ride of restaurants.
I cannot say enough about how lovely this stay was. I wish I was still sitting in front of the large windows overlooking the water reading in one of the recliner chairs. Every detail of this place is stunning from the art to the landscaping. Owners made it super easy to check in and were very communicative. We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend.
I would have loved to move in to this cosy, stylish place with the enchanting view. It had beautiful decor, amenities and an excellent location for all of our desired Cowichan activities. Nice quiet, romantic spot. would definitely return!
The house was immaculate and gorgeous. The view was amazing. The art and furniture exquisite. We ended up having great stay. However, when we arrived it was unbearably hot (95F) and we really needed AC. For the future, in the summer, the house needs AC. It didnât cool well with western exposure. But, it is the most beautiful, spacious and comfortable place weâve stayed in Pacific Northwest. (Beds great too.) Iâd come back in a heartbeat.
Situated at the end of a very quite road, this property was fantastic. Mature landscaping including oak and arbutus trees set the scene. The view of Cowichan Bay from the living room and master bedroom decks is spectacular.
The furnishings are high end, comfortable, and in like new condition (clear a lot of though had gone into layout, furnishings, and colours).
The kitchen is well equipped with a caveat that you are generally cooking pre-prepared food or simple dishes. If you are cooking from scratch, you will need things like measuring spoons and cups and any specialty cookware.
We had stayed 9 days, and generally bought our groceries at the beginning of the stay. In this case, you will find the 2 drawer fridge limited. We brought a plug in portable fridge/freezer and filled all three with the food needed for an extended stay. The lack of a freezer is not that big of a deal, you are close by major grocery stores.
Met both hosts during stay and they were friendly and responsive to any requests.
Duncan is closest town, and has stores for pretty much anything you would need to purchase (Save on Foods is 7 mins from the rental). But it does not have a lot of 'destination' spots in the town besides the Sat market. We also lucked out and were there during the music fest and listened to some great jazz.
Along island hwy, you have a huge selection of destinations within a 15-30 minute drive.
Definitely check out the calamari at the Genoa Bay Cafe, it is the best!
Kitchen is poorly furnished but then again I wouldn't call it a 'kitchen'. No freezer, kitchen 'sink' is a bar sink. EMR sends me email that I should contact rep for greet and meet. Explicitely states I need to coordinate meeting. I tried, EMR does not reply to messages but mentions the fines for not meeting on time for meeting that never happened. Having said all that the place is really beautiful.
Beautiful 2 bedroom place on water. Saw lots of wild life from the balcony - ducks, swans, eagles, and sea otters. Decorated in a mix of Indigenous and Asian art. Beds were extremely comfortable and area is quiet. Would have been nice if we could down to the water and if there was a blow dryer.
We had a very rough start. Made to stand outside @6:30p.m. at night in the cold for about 10 or 15 min. so employee checked over suite. Rental agreement said it would be ready @4p.m. I changed for bed, pulled back bed sheets to get into bed & there was a disgusting stain on the polyester sheets. Texted our contact who let us in. No answer. Phoned the 24 hour emergency, 3 times no answer. Got dressed & walked down to the owner's suite. They changed sheets only, not pillow cases with crumpled up polyester bed sheets they must have removed from another bed. Couldn't sleep all night wondering about covid sanitation. The staff I finally contacted were wonderful, the next day they changed the polyester sheets with brand new cotton sheets. They were great & helped us settle in, feel comfortable & we started to enjoy our stay. First night should be compensated.
Treehouse is a unique property that is well-maintained and comfortable. Easy access, privacy and a short drive to great restaurants and hiking trails. Everything you need is provided. A journey well worth it.
