Marbella Lane was the property management company that looks after thes property. Having booked many times in VRBO, this was my first experience with them and it was bad from start to (early) finish!! They first required an extraordinary amount of info to even book the place - pics of ourselves holding ID, closeup pics of ID, closeup pics of our credits cards. Then their system failed to upload the images correctly so we had to text them all over again to a phone number. Then we arrived at the house to discover it had not been cleaned at all since the last guests had departed - leaving all the bed sheets dirty in piles, and dirty towels piled in bathroom etc. They then completely failed to answer phone calls or texts at checkin time (4pm) so we were left to find alternative accommodation last minute on Thanksgiving weekend. They finally responded to us the following day, at which point they offered a 10% reduction for the costs of the second night - which, needless to say, did not come to close to the level of compensation we needed for a truly messed up weekend. Rarely feel the urge to leave negative reviews, but I could not recommend these people less - they took a bad situation and made it completely unacceptable by not answering calls for help during normal business hours. If you want to deal with pain in the a** bookings and unreliable call center help then give it a go. We will be sticking to houses that have real local people to help if things go wrong - beware!!

The house itself was fine in most ways. There were noticeable lacks - any towel bars that had been in the shared bathroom had fallen off. There was only one small hook in the master bathroom. There were only 4 coffee/tea mugs in a house that can sleep up to 8 people.The main problem we encountered was the absolutely terrible communication with the management company.It took until after 1:00 on the check-in date to get the access code for the house. We 4 women in our late 70s arrived to find that the access code did not work on any doors. I contacted Marbella Lane and after way too many delays and back and forth messages, we were told that a locksmith would be arriving in about 2 hours! It was cold and dark, and we had no access to a bathroom. We decided to go out for dinner and to get warm. While there, I got a call from the locksmith who said he was on his way from a town two hours away! There is the very good-sized town of Oak Harbor about 20 minutes away from the house. Were there truly NO locksmiths closer?We finally got into the house at 9:00, 5 hours after we got there.I contacted the management company the next day to express our extreme frustration and to ask for some monetary compensation for the first night. After much delay, we were offered 10% off of the first night's stay, or a whopping 17.00!At that point I contacted VRBO support, and they were able to get us a 50% refund for one night. We will never rent from Marbella Lane again.

We did not receive our check-in information until an hour after our arrival time and poor phone service made it difficult to communicate with management. It would be very helpful to have an actual contact number for management.The driveway and entry to the house were very off-putting and unwelcoming.The furniture has seen better days and is uncomfortable. One of the beds was hard and lumpy.Overall the place was clean, however, there was dog hair on the floor, dirty pans in the oven drawer, freezer drawer was dirty. The sliding glass door in the living room was dirty.Communication was not good. Tenants are asked to put out the garbage cart on Wednesday night, but there was nothing in the email confirmation or instructions about that. We were asked to recycle but there was no bin to be found.The place has a nice view and nice outside furniture and is comfortable enough inside.I have pictures of the dirty pans in the oven drawer but don't know how to load them.

This is a great place for a family unit of adults. The view was amazing. My only negative issue is all of the paper work required prior to check in, I assume this will be a normal in all future use of VRBO, but it just wasn’t that convenient.

Buyer beware!

The grass in the backyard is almost 4 feet tall in some areas and growing up through the chairs by the firepit. The grass is taller than the firepit so I was nervous to use it and catch it on fire. Supposedly a non smoking house but the house smells like cigarette smoke at times. There's a bucket full of cigarette butts outside the side door to the backyard. Buyer beware!! The pictures of the yard are most likely from years ago. The management company did nothing to take care of the yard during our week long stay. Total misrepresentation of their property.

Whidbey getaway

We stayed on Whidbey for 5 days to be out of our house while we had some interior painting completed. The location was perfect, we walked in Joseph Whidbey state park daily, walked on the beach. Home was centrally located for us. and the view was amazing!,

Spring Break Fun!

This house was the perfect size for our family of four, plus two grandparents! The inside of the house is beautiful!! Very clean and very comfortable. The views were incredible, and the natural light was unreal. The check-in process was difficult; hours before we were to arrive I was trying to get ahold of someone so I could get the information needed to check-in, it took multiple emails before any response. The outside of the property was a mess. The lawn hadn’t been mowed in weeks, long weeds and dandelions were everywhere, making it difficult to enjoy the backyard. We were also not left any extra toilet paper, paper towels, or kitchen garbage bags. When I messaged about this, I was asked to get it myself and be reimbursed later; I told them it was very inconvenient, and someone got us TP delivered, but nothing else. Overall, our family had a wonderful stay and would gladly stay again. This would be an easy 5 star review if we didn’t have any of these inconveniences.

7 Day stay with party of 8!

We were absolutely thrilled when we entered the house. The stunning views immediately draw your attention to the back yard. The house was decorated very nicely and there was plenty of sleeping room for our 6 adults, one 6-year old, and a 15 month old. We did have to bring a pack-and-play for the little one to sleep in (which we left behind so hopefully future guests can take advantage of having that available.) We ran into some issues with the wifi connection and received a response almost immediately. All communication was super fast whenever we had a question. I could only rate 4/5 stars for a couple of reasons. 1.) The lack of seating in the living room. The property description states that it “sleeps 10” but there is only enough seats in the living room for 6 to sit comfortably. 2.) My husband smokes a tobacco pipe and prior to our arrival I reached out to ask if he could smoke it out by the fire pit if we would light a fire one evening. I was told it was a non smoking property and that no smoking was allowed. When we arrived to the property, there was a bucket on the side porch completely full of cigarette butts. I would recommend enforcing the no-smoking rule across the board if this is the case. 3.) We ended up leaving the day before our scheduled departure. We followed what was in the “handbook” but later received additional checkout instructions (washing linens) after we had already left. I would recommend updating the handbook with all checkout requirements.

Beautiful!

The property is stunning with amazing views and a little family of bald eagles that hang out every day! It is a bit of a drive, but worth it for the view and the quiet. It would be great if there was a small supply of firewood and a grill for outdoor cooking! The living room furniture needs to be replaced, it's not very comfortable. Overall a beautiful, clean, wonderful home base for our PNW family vacation!

Everything was great, except the house wreaked of smoke. You can tell it’s been smoked in more than once and quite often. Very old stagnant smoke smell that didn’t sit well with us. Floors left feet black and dirty, but other than that it was perfect!

50/50 Review

The house was perfect for our needs and the location was great (beautiful view) however the house is in need of some TLC. Curled up carpets were a tripping hazard, the back outdoor camera flashed on and off all night, weeds growing out of the gutters. Beds are comfortable and we really enjoyed the heaters in the bathrooms (we were there when it was cold so that was great after a shower) but living room furniture is awful (not comfortable at all and felt like it might break if more than 1 person sat on it). Loved the fireplace (only decorative, not for heat) Water smells like cat pee and is yellow, which was a little off putting. Did not like being told after the fact that there was a restriction on people allowed on the property! We were there to see family and told only 3 people were allowed to visit at a time and should be gone by 10pm) What if your family is more than 3?. I understand they don’t want parties and noise, etc. but that was a little ridiculous! Couldn’t believe we were asked to start the washer with the sheets before we left, seems they would want to do that to make sure they are cleaned correctly. This management company needs to spell out the “rules” ahead of time and make clear in their welcome book what is expected upon check out instead of sending you additional instructions the day before you leave. A few changes would make this a great place!

MANAGEMENT GROUP WAS HORRIBLE

the management group sent me a form to sign, i was not allowed to print or review the form when signed, they demanded that i send pictures of my license and credit card, they demanded to know how many people would stay each night, after 5 they would charge my card, 2-3 visitors max and if more thy would charge my card so I cancelled my card. they had cameras to look at the back deck into the house, and one on the front door. this will probably be my last time with VRBO.

Perfect location, wonderful house

What a stunning location! Amazing sunset views and central to all Whidbey has to offer. House is well appointed in all beds/baths. Kitchen is great, with everything you need for a short stay. Rental company has great communication. Already thinking of coming back next year!
