Elevator is a nice benefit as my wife has a hard time with all the stairs. Porches are great. Mattresses could be upgraded and some of the flooring was coming apart. Great location and would rent again.
Great house and location, just as advertised. Only issue was not getting check in information upon arrival. Arrived at 245 pm for 3 pm check in after traveling two days with family of 5 and owner did not respond until nearly 345 to let us know where to find the keys. In the meantime, VRBO offered us a refund as they could also not get a response from the owner regarding access to the property. Stressful start to our vacation, to say the least. I would highly recommend reaching out to the owner the morning of the arrival day at least to avoid this.
We came out to North Carolina for my Father in Laws memorial and this home was the perfect relaxing place for it. It was so clean and such a beautiful location. I would re book this home in a heartbeat! 10/10!
I loved everything about this place. Location was perfect and the front sitting area was superb. House was clean and had all necessities needed. The gate on the front porch was perfect so my dog could sit out in the front without me worrying that he would go down the stairs and cross the road. Did I mention being steps away from the beach? Love!
The beach house offers a perfect escape with stunning ocean views, cozy accommodations, and a serene atmosphere. It was extremely clean and cozy. Ideal for a relaxing getaway by the sea.
I really like this home! The location, layout of home, and fact that It allows dogs had us come back for a second year! This year though barely any condiments to use in the home, limited household items like hand soap and dish soap. I donât think everything needs to be totally supplied but the basics would be helpful. (Like salt and pepper)! Could have some extra blankets also. This would not prevent me from renting again. Overall the location for us and layout is great.
Check in was 3 pm. The house was dirty, beds unmade, food crumbs on floors, hair in bath sinks. Sheets and towels in washer wet. Assume put there by previous quests. I called vrbo. They couldn't contact owner. They gave me alternate number. It was owner's husband. He said that he was in different town. He tried calling but couldn't reach her. He said they live in Ohio! Holly finally called and said cleaners were on the way. They arrived around 6 pm. We went to dinner. When we got back to house, they were gone. My son went to bed around 9pm, and his sheets were wet!
This was a last minute beach trip for me, my wife, and our adult daughter. The home was perfect: clean, nicely decorated, near the ocean, and near (but not too close to) town. Much needed R&R. Our daughter requires a wheelchair for all mobility, so we especially appreciated the elevator and wide hallways. Would absolutely recommend!
Out of the Blue was simply delightful for our beach vacation. The house was clean and bright and the location was excellent. We could see and hear the ocean and we could walk to the beach in less than a minute. It was amazing. The front deck was awesome for watching shrimp boats and waves, and it had a gate at the top of the stairs so our pet could be out there safely with no worries. The back deck is terrific too and leads to the fenced in yard - again our pet was completely safe. The elevator was really cool and so handy for bringing up luggage and groceries - we loved it. Oak Island has a laid back vibe that was perfect for us. Several groceries stores, gas stations, shops, restaurants etc. are right on the island and easy to get to. And there are no high-rise condos blocking views of this beautiful shore. Our host was quick to respond to questions - we had a small appliance give out the first week and the host had a replacement arrive within a couple of hours of notification - perfect! Our month-long stay went by too quickly but we certainly would consider returning again sometime.
This is an excellent dog-friendly home. The elevator was excellent for our geriatric pup whose knees just won't let her go up and down stairs multiple times a day. The elevator was also terrific for hauling our things into the house. The location is minutes away from the beach and we could see the ocean from the front balcony. The front balcony has a gate at the top of the stairs, great for corralling dogs -even small dogs, as well as children. The 3 bedrooms are all good sizes, plenty of room to move around. The beds were comfortable. I liked the bedspreads so much (soft and a good weight) I ordered one for at home. This is an excellent home for a long stay, there is a ton of storage available. It is close to shopping and things to do. There's shopping as close as only 3 minutes away and a grocery about 5-10 minutes away. We found an excellent restaurant (my husband said the best crab cakes, second only to his mom's) and a mediocre pizza place. The kitchen is well supplied with everything we needed, even the right scoop for scooping poached eggs out of the pot. Only two things make this house less than perfect. 1. We don't own it and/or 2. We don't live in it.
When my son got to the place, he discovered someone else was already staying there. Host had given us contact info for someone to call if we had issues. We promptly called and she informed us it was double booked. She did not seem at all upset and did not offer any suggestions for us. I spent time trying to find an alternate place to stay instead of having fun with my family. I called VRBO help line. They said there was no alternate place to stay. I had just called VRBO helpline this week. I was worried about the booking because my credit card had not been charged. The representative I spoke to said that everything was fine and it showed that booking had been confirmed and credit card was being processed. As a previous short term rental host myself, I find this situation inexcusable. I think I should be reimbursed for the travel insurance I purchased and compensated for my time and frustration-at least half of the booking fee. I will never book any property that this host owns nor will I ever use VRBO again. Whatâs more I will tell all my friends, neighbors, and family not to book with this host. Since I live here at Oak Island-that is a significant number of people. Very disappointed!!!
Had a wonderful short trip. Everything you need. Not to fancy or new but great! Wonderful VIEW! Outstanding location. Very short walk to the beach. We all slept like babies/beds are good. Outstanding shower in master bed room. Great outside living. Full size washer and dryer. Has a nice elevator!!
The BIGGEST problem is the sofa and chair are worn 1000% out. Not just old but needs to be replaced!
I absolutely loved the house and the location. We had the best time with a minute walk to the beach. Everything in the neighborhood was great with not a lot of commotion that you see at the beaches today. Easy driving and access. Felt safe walking. Nice and polite neighborhood. Even the construction crew building nearby were always polite. My daughter and I have already discussed coming back next year. My son and daughter loved the house setup. I would definitely recommend.
Great location and house for 6. Thrilled with the elevator and ability to bring our pup. Beach is short walk and close enough to shopping and restaurants without being in the crowds. The porches are the star of the house with gated deck and fenced in yard. Definitely planning to return. Thanks Holly :)
We stayed at this property July-16-23rd.
Excellent beach access for a 2nd row home, literally cross the street and walk down three houses, 2 minutes max.
Great fenced in back yard for our two senior dogs. Mix of sun and shade, which they loved.
A/C and fans were great. Temps were in the mid 90's every day of our visit, but we never had to touch the thermostat. Very comfortable.
Our only observation, not a criticism, is that the floor plan is very unique. Tons of storage space, way too much for a beach house. It seems that there's enough space for a 4th bedroom. I would think that adding a 4th bedroom would help with cash flow. But, just saying....It's not my property.
