Casa Barbara is a carefully restored, rustic-style house, dating back around a hundred years. A beamed ceiling, thick walls and a fireplace retain the rustic theme of the living room, along with arched open doorways accessing other parts of the house, including the country kitchen. Two twin bedrooms overlooking the rear garden and the swimming pool and sharing a bathroom. The third bedroom, a double, overlooking a little garden, has an en-suite bathroom reached by two steps and an adjoining sitting room. Villa is countryside location 2km from Pechao village and 5km from water front bars and restaurants in Olhao, away from crowds but still easy reach of major resorts and golfing facilities.------ Corona-virus Update

Lovely villa a short drive from the airport and Olhao. Met by Suzana despite it being almost midnight when we arrived. She is so nice and helpful and not at all intrusive. As others have said the pool is huge and so refreshing with good quality sunbeds and you can sunbathe in privacy. The villa has everything you would need, very well stocked and the rooms are a good size and with air conditioning in the bedrooms. We have stayed in villas for about 20 years and this is up there with the best.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Barbara, the villa is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The outside space is fantastic with a good sized pool, ample sun beds, shades and tables. Suzana was a wonderful host. Highly recommended.

Excellent villa

The villa is beautifully maintained and a great size. The pool is surprisingly large and a highlight of the villa. The garden is also very well kept. Suzana is the best host, making sure that everything was perfect for us.This villa works well for a family holiday, including time at the villa and pool, and it is also well located for visiting Olhão, Faro and the rest of the region.

Gorgeous villa

Had a really good time here. The villa has everything you need and the aircon is much appreciated in 35-40 degrees!! Suzana was the perfect host, met us on arrival and popped in regularly to water the plants. The only thing we couldn’t find on the listing was the hot tub but no way we needed any more hot that 11 days!! The only thing to watch out for was wasps in the pool, nobody’s fault but just in case of small children trying to ‘save’ them :-) Loved sitting at night or early morning watching the various wildlife that visited the beautiful gardens The area was remote, you definitely need a car here It was perfect!

Best villa we’ve ever stayed in abroad… suzanna and husband great hosts and always available if needed. Pool lovely and gardens beautiful… Car needed here although the Ubers were brilliant and really reasonably priced.

Fantastic stay

We had an absolutely amazing holiday at this gorgeous villa. Huge pool, great villa layout, in a beautiful rural location. The garden is so well kept with stunning selection of plants. We spent most evenings in the bbq area, with walks in the local area to explore the landscape and wildlife. 10 minute easy drive from Olhão. Suzana the host was fantastic and made sure we were settled in and had everything we need. Would highly recommend for families looking for pool time and quiet location, with easy access to the rest of Algarve with a hire car.

Our Olhao retreat

If we are ever lucky enough to return to this area of the Algarve, we would not want to stay anywhere else! Suzana was wonderful. We loved the oranges from her garden that she supplied us with - what fantastic, fresh orange juice every morning. There was no shortage of supplies in the villa; from a very well stocked kitchen to charcoal for the bbq. Obrigado Suzana!

Super Villa

Great Villa in very rural location (car is a must). Suzana was the perfect host, made us very welcome and ensured we had everything we wanted. The pool was lovely, although not heated. We ate out a few times, most local restaurants only take cash but the local hotel, Quinta dos Poetas, is only a 3 minute drive and has an excellent set menu to 20 Euro. Villa ideally located for Olhau (10 Mins) and Tivira (25 mins). Overall a lovely hotel and villa

Family summer holiday

We arrived late and Suzana waited up to give us our keys and also made sure we had bread, milk and breakfast and lunch supplies. The house was spacious, rustic and had working air conditioning. The pool was amazing and we spent most of our time outside by the pool. There are lots of day trips available, beaches, waterparks, watersports, towns... What a fabulous holiday, i definitely recommend staying here!

Fun in the sun

Suzanna is a great host, friendly and helpful. The villa is wonderful, plenty of space, a great size pool and beautiful gardens. We are a family of four and there was plenty of space inside and out. A rural location, a car is a must to enjoy the neighbouring areas or to explore further a field. The villa is well equipped. We had a fabulous 10 days enjoying fun in the sun.

A quiet place to unwind

Very relaxing stay

A beautiful villa in a beautiful part of the Algarve. Suzana was extremely helpful and friendly. We all loved the pool and Olhao is such a gorgeous town. We hope to come again. Highly recommend that everyone book. Also, we loved the little lizards.

Beautiful, clean villa with large pool

The villa is a credit to Suzana, who was very kind and helpful. Exceptionally clean, well presented villa set in lovely countryside and an amazing pool. Great to have the covered terrace so plenty of shade out of the sun. This area was very well lit so it was lovely to sit out late evening and be able to read or just enjoy the peace and quiet. Suzana provided so many extras that you wouldn't usually find including kitchen foil and roll, bin bags, and even oranges and mangoes from the garden. There's an excellent hotel just a kilometre away that does fabulous 4 course meals for 19 EUR, the food is extremely high quality, we ate there 3 nights as it was so easy to get to and great value for money. All in all a lovely holiday villa in a great location.

Hot weather and great holiday home

As in all previous reviews, this property is a great holiday home and Suzana and her husband are extremely helpful hosts. We had a lovely two weeks by the pool, but also visited Aquashow Park, took a boat tour from Amacao de pera down the coast to see the Benagil caves, visited Vilamoura, Olhos d'Agua, Albufeira and Tavira for dinner and walkabout. Lots to see and do with not too long a drive, less than 10 mins to local or international grocery stores eg Lidl/Aldi. Our two young granddaughters had the best time in the pool.

An enjoyable stay.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Casa Barbara - a very comfortable villa which was well stocked. The outdoor area was perfect - really peaceful, lots of loungers and a lovely pool. We went at the beginning of April, so we had mixed weather- some sun and some rain. Suzane was incredibly helpful and was on hand for anything we needed. Thank you Suzane for a wonderful stay! Family holiday in September with three adult offspring

I can thoroughly recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the Algarve but wanting somewhere less developed and touristy. The property was lovely, really well maintained and the owner Susanna had obviously paid a great deal of care and attention to what people need in a villa. The villa was difficult to find when arriving late in the dark from the airport but Susanna arranged to be there when we arrived and was happy to come and rescue us when we got hopelessly lost! She lived close by and left us feeling she would happily come and help us if needed. The pool was great, a good size for swimming in once you had braved the cold we could have happily spent all our time round it but there was plenty to see and do in the area which kept us busy. Thank you so much Susanna for making our holiday!

Excellent First Stay

Many thanks to Suzana for coming to our rescue when we stupidly locked ourselves out :) That about sums up our experience. Suzana was a great host. She had some basics on hand for us (water, fruit, etc) when we arrived ahead of schedule. We weren't disturbed during our 10 day visit, and she was there to see us off on the final day also. The Villa is secluded, but it's a simple 5-10 min drive into Olhao and nearer if you're going to Pechao. The pool and Villa grounds are gorgeous and it's a lovely place to sit out in the evening and just get a bit of peace and quiet. There were a few ants but these were easily dispatched and dealt with with some Ant powder. It's to be expected. The only element we could think that could be improved would be a "welcome" pack of sorts, collated perhaps from previous guests or menus, places to go, ferry crossing times, etc, but all of this was easily obtainable from Olhao anyway. Top quality Villa, great location and we loved our stay - thank you!!!

Fantastic

Suzana and Mr Baptista gave us a warm and continual welcome. We have never stayed at such a beautiful place as Casa Barbara. Casa Barbara was immaculate, providing everything you need. The swimming pool is fabulous and Suzana and her husband called to look after the pool regularly. Lidl and Continente supermarkets are a short drive away (car is a must). Casa Barbara is in a peaceful setting, passing traffic is minimal, more likely to see a horse and cart 😅. We were very sad to leave but we have very special memories and will definitely be returning to stay at Casa Barbara.

Wonderful

We have just returned from a wonderful weeks holiday at this lovely villa with pool and didn't want to leave. The Villa has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is quietly located for a peaceful restful time around the pool , however hiring a car has you within twenty minutes of everything you will ever need. beautiful beaches , interesting towns and locations to explore. We can recomemnd Tavira as a great place to visit. We cannot thank Suzana enough , nothing was too much trouble. We are looking forward to going back to this lovely home next year. If you are traveling by car I would recommend putting 'casa barbera Olhao' into google maps for a direct route to the property. The instructions on this site made it difficult to locate the villa on arrival.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The house was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and perfect for our needs. The children were in the pool every day and the weather was so good to us that we all went in at one point! The surrounding area is beautiful - you will need a car to explore it, but if beaches are your thing, you definitely won't be disappointed. Take the ferry to the neighbouring islands and nearby Fusetta and Tavira are well worth a visit. Susanna was a very helpful and attentive host - she even rang me to offer to do a shop for us as we were arriving late at night. Thank you. There's a good chance we will be back 😊

A comfortable villa with just about everything you need!

We had a lovely week staying in Olhao! A great villa in a very quiet location but close enough to explore the surrounding areas. We didn't try the local restaurants but did go through to eat in Fuseta where there were some great seaside outdoor bbq restaurants! Tavira is beautiful and the sea caves at Benagil are a must see!
