My wife and our two boys and I spent a week at the Creek House. It was a lovely place to relax, fish, kayak, and dig into a good book. Town is a quick drive away and has everything youâd need. We would book with Meg again.
My family was in Onancock for a wedding and this property worked out great. We had 3 couples and some small kids. The fact that there were 4 toilets was a big plus! We had to do some food prep for the wedding and the well stocked kitchen was great. The sunroom was a great hang out spot. My husband and I enjoyed taking the kayaks out. The dock was beautiful and the stairs down to the water were a big plus The hosts were very responsive and everything was seamless.
Four 70 something one time kayak friends came to enjoy this waterfront home for a few days. It was absolutely perfect. Four bedrooms, three queen beds, and one with two twin beds. Plenty of space to hang out together or separately. Nice outdoor area, including a pier. Even though one day was rainy we were able to go out because we were on a sheltered cove. Lots of kayaking, destinations in the area, including on the Chesapeake Bayside, paddling to Onancock town, or traveling just a few minutes to the other side of the Peninsula and the ocean.
The house is quaint and homey. It is an old house with some upgrades. The downstairs beds are comfortable (didnât use upstairs) but the house needs a refresh on furniture and decor to be competitive. The grounds are fantastic and I spent a lot of time on the pier reading a book and watching the geese and fish. The owner is very sweet and promptly addressed any issues we had.
We had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the kayaks and the firepit as well as a few local restaurants. The house was clean and the host was very responsive.
We loved our stay at this VBRO. We stayed during the Labor Day Weekend. The house was super clean and the grounds were well maintained. The cottage is not far from Chincoteague (45 min) so we stopped on our way down and back home - visit Captain Barry. We ate dinners at Mallards (music on Friday Nights only 10 minutes away) and the Island House Restaurant in Wachapreague (25 minutes away). We liked both, but the Corner Bakery was awesome. The donuts were out of this world and I don't even like donuts that much (don't bother just buying 1, you will need a box). Lunch at Foggy Place Cafe was also worth noting. For being in the middle of nowhere, there were lots of shops and stores (walmart, movies, art shops, farmers market...) within 15 minutes. Fishing on the property was good. From the dock I caught croaker, red drum and many speckled trout (also caught fish from the kayak). Bait fish and jumping fish were everywhere. We caught crabs from the dock with a piece of rope tied to chicken wings scooping up the crabs using the net provided. At night we had bonfires and the night sky from the dock was amazing. The water was calm and the boat traffic was very low so my nervous wife was able to kayak (everyone should do this, we saw so many birds). As a reminder the area's regional bird is the mosquito - so bring bug spray and you will be ok. Meg was a great host and provided everything we needed. I can't recommend this property highly enough.
From the moment we drove up to the beautiful cottage we knew our week was going to be special. Cottage is beautiful, quaint and idyllic! Landscaping is beautiful. Dock was great for fishing and sitting. Loved the kayaks! Onancock is a lovely town. Meg and her mom are great to work with! We will be back for sure!
Beautiful home. Very clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Very relaxing week (except for the darn mosquitoes). Chincoteague was only 35 minutes away and OCMD was 90 minutes. Ate at Mallards, Blarney Stone and Tavola in Onancock and all were excellent. Thereâs also an excellent bakery right in town.
Quiet, Peaceful (which is what we were looking for), clean, and comfortable. Plenty to do in the area, but the heat was oppressive, so we didn't venture out. It was great being right on the water. Couldn't really see to the open water, like out to the bay, but you can see plenty of water birds, etc. Well equipped and vacation-y in the best way.
Three family groups - 5 adults and one toddler - lot of room so not on top of each other - we cooked in all weekend - nicely equipped kitchen, roomy dining table (also great for games and cards). Thoroughly enjoyed the porch room - beautiful view. Walked around the yard with the toddler - spacious. Used the kayaks - nice to have that option. Took some walks - nice area. Next door neighbor - not close, but was playing loud music while setting up for a party, a minor irritant. During the party itself we were outside setting up our campfire and sitting around it and it did not bother us at all. Nice charming place - was great for three generations of family and we enjoyed our stay very much!
Ideal location to relax, enjoy the waterfront close to Onacock, VA. Charming town with friendly residents. Home was well maintained and clean. Has spectacular view of the creek with a dock. Home well landscaped. Check in and out easy. Owner concerned about a pleasurable experience.
Our group of friends and family stayed at the Creek House while participating in the annual bicycle ride at Exmore. The house was exactly as advertised, very clean, and perfectly equipped. We cooked a great dinner the first evening -- kitchen had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the sunsets both evenings -- perfect chairs located to view the sunset as well as a fire pit. We stayed to watch the sunset on our second night, then went to nearby Onancock for dinner (Mallards at the Wharf -- excellent!)
On Sunday morning, after breakfast, we went for a walk in the very beautiful neighborhood -- trees changing and many very quiet streets to choose from.
We really enjoyed our stay and plan to return next year for the ride.
Meg, our host, was very easy to work with and answered all of our questions very quickly.
Our DC book group from years ago, now friends of 30 or so years, had an absolutely lovely time, based at Megâs place in Onancock. We just skimmed the surface of the town and area possibilities!
Meg is a wonderful host! Exceptionally clean house, beautiful views, easy to access, quick response. Just bring food and some wood for the fire pit and your golden! Would 100% come again.
We had five family members of four generations staying together for almost a week. All of us were able to enjoy the house, the yard, and the water. The kitchen was well- equipped for cooking the many meals that we shared around the large dining room table. The four bedrooms and baths easily accommodated all of us. Several family members enjoyed the kayaks provided. The host was quick to answer any questions we had and made our stay a pleasure for all of us. We hope to return another year.
I stayed four nights with a college girlfriend and we couldnât have been happier. The cottage is charming and light filled. We spent most of our time in the enclosed sun porch, watching birds on the dock, kayaking, and sitting in the red chairs by the water. The kitchen was well equipped, neighbors were quiet, beds were comfy. We very much appreciated the shady yard as a nice break from the mid day heat. A very peaceful little spot.
