My two sisters joined me from far away and we had a very special time together at this Sanderling Cottage, cooking meals, talking over tea, and heading out the back door to walk on the beach. The cottage had all the basics and was just what we wanted.
Absolutely stunning views and wonderful access to the beach. The spiral stairs are not for the weak and very hard to bring luggage up. But everything else is wonderful!
This was the 4th year we stayed at this property, first time in this particular unit. We have always found them to be very clean although a bit dated. This year we found pieces of food in the refrigerator, ice trays half empty, hair in the bathtub, refrigerator, toilet. There was an open bag of snacks in one of the cabinets. There were no wine glasses. We always enjoy Yachats, but this time was disappointing as far as Sanderling.
Wonderful stay! The weather was in the 60âs! We loved being so close to the beach. The only negative was the floor in the kitchen area was dirty. Other than that it was perfect.
I did not notice the spiral staircase in the listing. Either I missed it or was not highlighted
Evolve is not equipped to handle telephone conversations.
Nice location and right size.
The cutest little spot! Excellent for a weekend stay, or longer! Great view of the beach (but beware very spikey seeds of some sort - our dog couldnât get off the porch without getting them all in his paws) and have your own patio.
The location was perfect. The immediate access to the beach worked well with the dogs. The only thing that was not expected was the narrowness of the spiral staircase. The dogs had difficulty navigating. Had a great time despite a 4 hour power outage of unknown cause.
The spiral staircase was scary for my two little dogs. Hence, I had to carry them up and down the stairs.
Location in proximity to beach access is excellent.
Halfway between Yachats and Waldport, so lots of exploring to do! Plus, the state parks in between are other great places to stop at. Shops in town open later (10 or 11 am), so plan your day accordingly.
There is no signage that you've arrived- only an orange cone in one of the driveway entries.
Great dog friendly stay! A perfect balance of sea & beaches and mountain trails and great food at Yachat and Waldorf. We were there 4 days. Appreciated having a vacuum provided to help keep the sand outside!
When we first pulled up we were disappointed in the âcurb appealâ. Made more obvious by the 2 newer units on each end of this building. The interior was nice. Comfortable. And appeared clean. The best part is the view from the room facing the ocean and the fact that you can walk out the sliding glass door and over a grass hill straight onto a wonderful walking beach!!
Be aware if you plan to cook while you are here you may want to bring your own pots and pans and cooking utensils. The set of cookware is in SERIOUS need or replacement as is the utensils. I also recommend washing everything before you use it but I do this at every rental I stay in. There is no dishwasher but they do provide a scrubbing sponge and dish soap.
When you look at the per night cost be aware that cleaning and rental agency feeâs add the equivalent of another nights stay to the billâŠ.
My family had a present stay. But I do hope the management or owners perk up the curb appeal and purchase new cookware.
I'd never been that far south of Newport but it's a great little spot. The beach stretches on for miles in either direction and being able to walk to the beach from the back door is amazing. My kids really loved this place. The spiral staircase was a big hit with them and they loved being able to chill out from a day at the beach by the fireplace, which also was the dog's favorite spot too.
Check in was really easy. And it was easy enough to find. There was a little road noise from being close to the street but I don't think it was that bad. You're really not on a super busy part of the road.
I get that it's not totally within the property managers control but I do think all the extra fees and such that get tacked on to vacation rentals are getting a little out of control, so it comes out to be a little pricier than I think it needs to be considering other rentals at that price point at least have a hot tub...but it's pet friendly (which can be harder to find) and it's right on the beach so it's about priorities I guess. And I think overall the location to beach access and the view won out.
It's not the most up-to-date place in terms of amenities but it has everything you'll need. Internet was good. I was able to hook up a Chromecast and stream Netflix from my phone. No dishwasher though so be prepared to hand wash a lot of dishes if you plan on cooking. The stairs were difficult for my dog to manage and I'd imagine people with mobility issues would have an even harder time so be aware of that.
All that being said, if you're staying here it's because of the view and the beach access. Both of which are top notch. I'd consider staying again in the future.
