Ground Floor: Open plan sitting/dining room/kitchen (A/C, TV, counter-top oven, microwave). Double bedroom (A/C). Bathroom. WiFi. Outside: Gardens of lawns and terraces. Covered dining terrace. Poolside shower. In-built barbecue. Washing machine. Private swimming pool (7m x 3.5m) with Roman steps.
Houses with just one bedroom that offer a private pool facility are hard to find. So too are properties that are within walking distance of all amenities. In Casa Encantadora we have therefore uncovered a gem since this attractive cottage is set in pretty lush gardens that are enclosed and private and yet only 450 metres from the main square of Órgiva.
Its slightly elevated position on the edge of the upper part of the town means that the lawned garden that surrounds the pool looks out across a splendid vista of mountains, with the rooftops of the town just visible to the side. So neat and pretty are the grounds that much of your time is likely to be spent here soaking up this picturesque scene, although should you feel the need to mingle with the locals, a 5 minute stroll down the lane will bring you to the bustling centre of Órgiva, with its local shops and restaurants and a colourful Thursday morning market.
This is a perfect base for couples wishing to explore the picturesque and undiscovered Alpujarras. In the house your comfort is assured since the charming rooms are tastefully decorated, with smart terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and colourful fabrics combining to make the accommodation cheerful and appealing. For days out, you are spoilt for choice since the area has so much to offer: trek or cycle along the myriad of ancient roads and footpaths that traverse the surrounding countryside; drive south through stunning mountain scenery to coastal Salobreña (a 30 minute drive) or, for a dose of culture, head north to discover the ancient Moorish city of Granada, just 55 minutes away by car.
