This is an old property which needs significant updating. Several badly worn and poorly fitted carpets with staining. There is no lift which means carrying cases up a couple of flights of stairs to the first floor. Plumbing seems antiquated and we were without hot water on our departure morning which meant no showers. For the price paid it was poor value

Loved this hotel

Pros: friendliness of the staff, cosy hotel with a lovely fireplace, comfy sofas around and the daily papers provided. One of the best I have ever been in.
Cons: I think your receptionists need to be very informative on bus times etc.
Location: Perfect for oxford, buses every ten minutes. Lovely pubs within village of iffley. Canal only a short walk away then a lovely walk into oxford.
We stayed for two nights, we'd never been to this hotel or oxford before but we were pleasantly surprised with both. The room was very comfortable, I especially liked the light being on over the bed and the bottles of water....lovely touches.

Dear Denise, Thank you very much for your honest and great feedback. We are glad that we could make your stay a special experience! However, we apologize if the receptionist could not give you the information you needed. To be fair the come comes every 8 to 10 minutes and it is just one line, therefore an exact time table with specific hours is usually not necessary. I will address this to the team in order to avoid any confusion in the future! According to your positive review we hope to welcome you back at Hawkwell soon! Again, we apologize for any inconveniences and thank you very much for staying with us! Kind regards, Falko Lukesch House Manager
