CJ at the front desk was lovely!! Other than that I’d avoid this hotel. It was dirty, peeling paint, mold residue, and the pool looked dirty as well. I checked in and checked out within the hour.

The location is great, walking distance to the coast. Too bad the property is not adequately maintained. Major upgrades are needed otherwise it is in the category of a very cheap motel.

45th wedding anniversary disappointment.

Room was not ecofriendly in that the room was hot and we couldn't open the windows for all the windows were nonfunctioning, the sliding door did not have a screen door to keep out mosquito's. Front Desk said they don't have mosquito's in Pacific Grove. We killed several in the room on our two days stay. So.. we only had an old ceiling fan that made squeaky noise while functioning. No telephone in room to call front desk which was referenced in all materials. Had to call using cell phones or walk to the front desk. Tried the fireplace for atmosphere, but made the room hotter. Rooms need to be painted to remove the many nicks on walls, mirrors and moldy baseboard because the shower curtain didn't fit the shower and the bathroom flooded the bathroom and soaked the wood base in the room. We could hear the shower plumbing on the adjacent room, but raising the tv sound helped reduce this side nuisance. The toilet filler is loud enough to wake up my wife in the morning, so we didn't need a wakeup call. The breakfast area buffet was clean except the cushions looked 30 years old. lids on the warmers didn't fit, so most of the food was cold unless you were there when the cook filed the containers while we were eating. We threw away food to get hotter food. Cabinet face glue failing above the coffee bar. some carpet unraveling. We upgraded the room and felt we couldn't enjoy it.

The bathroom set up is a little wonky‐ The bathroom door opens right into the toilet so only one person really could benin there at once. The shower door also open out into the bathroom and did not have a good seal when closed and being used. Water leaked out on the floor. The night front desk worker was not the most kindest person- it felt like forced kindness. The property also charges for service dogs. The moring front desk worker was delightful. Walking distance to the beach and a lovely walk at that. They offer "breakfast bags" which is a little odd and felt kinda cheap but still gave us a little fuel before we could actually grab something more fulfilling.

Everything was ok overall. Clean room, well kept appliances. During checking we were told that breakfast was included. My niece has celiac disease, she can not have any gluten. The lady in the front desk told us, they had some items gluten free and they were aware of cross contamination. In the morning, we went to the breakfast area. We were received by a rude lady. We asked her for the gluten free options. She said “I can’t help you with any of that” “there’s a line behind you” I can’t waste time on this” “I’m just being real, telling you the way it is” I don’t think I have ever being disrespected this way. We are used to find gluten free places to go, I’m not upset she didn’t have GF options. It was the way she treated us with no reason or provocation. I mention this at the time of check out. The lady at the front desk was polite and very apologetic. She also mentioned they DID have gluten free foods to offer. They told us they couldn’t make any refund for the breakfast we paid and we couldn’t get. I think it is a solid place to stay. I don’t think anybody with specific medical needs would be safe there. There’s no flexibility. I don’t think we would be coming back.

It was an OK stay. The property could use some renovating. The sliding door to the bathroom didn’t close all the way and the bathroom was small. Quite a bit of light comes in through the windows (no black out curtains) and the walls are pretty thin; yes, you could hear guests’ conversations from other rooms and the front door leading out of the room to the parking area.

The hotel is in a great area. We were able to walk to the lighthouse and along the coast. The hotel was cute and our room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The grab and go breakfadt was simple.

The cottages are in a beautiful setting. It appears to been originally built as a church retreat grounds. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean and had a good bed. Downside was that room was rather run down. Breakfast was an ok hot buffet in a communal dining area. They to be gradually renovating the place
