The house I'd booked was out of commission on the morning we were to arrive. Lori texted me and let me know. She instructed me NOT to work with VRBO, only directly with her. We found another, smaller (1300 sqft vs 2200 sqft), less desirable property at the same rate and we agreed it was the best option given the property we booked was out of commission.
The house was dirty. There were dirty dishes in the cabinet, dirty silverware in the drawer, the salt shaker was greasy, there was a bunch of hair in the tub, food smeared on the sofa and a mostly eaten lollypop on the back of the loveseat.
I let Lori know and she said she would get back to me on my request to refund the $225 cleaning fee, since the place was NOT clean. She waited until after I checked out to tell me, no, we NEVER refund cleaning fees.
Head's up - once you check out VRBO cannot help you.
I clearly got scammed here. I'll be more careful going forward.
Additionally, the garage that was listed for guest parking was full of stuff - trash, a sofa, a paddle boat - so there was no way anyone was parking a car in there. The back deck had thick ice that made it treacherous. The sink in the downstairs bath makes a dreadful noise unless you run water somewhere else at the same time.
I'd stay clear of this one, or, at the very least make sure if there are problems you let VRBO know PRIOR to checking out.
