Our stay was very comfortable and the hosts were great. The Vrbo just was as described and lovely. The instructions for our stay and checkout were very clear. The hosts proactively let us know they had received notice of a WiFi outage and what to expect; the outage was brief and did not cause us interference. We would definitely stay again!
Booked this while we were visiting Penn State for my son to check out the college. We planned to bring our dog. However, 24 hours before our stay we received a message from the host saying that 1) there may be "critters" in the cabin and that because of this 2) there will be rat poison in the cabin so to keep the dogs away from that. So, we did not bring our dog which was inconvenient. Had we been warned about rat poison and potential snakes and such inside, we would not have booked. Once we arrived, I will say the cabin looks pretty nice. However, there was an overwhelming smell in the cabin. I cannot put my finger on what the smell is. We sprayed air freshener and tried to make the best of it. However, as the trip went on, my husband, son, and I developed really bad coughs. It started to hurt to breathe in. My son ended up having an asthma attack, the first one in ten years! I reached out to the host. They were responsive. They said there was no reason this was happening as there is no mold, no harsh chemicals used, etc. We tried to stay outside but the outdoor chairs I will say are REALLY dirty and when we got out there, a wasp came out of the overhang and stung my son on the neck. We ended up leaving the property and staying in a hotel. The host did reach out later, which was nice, to let us know that, unbeknownst to them, a pesticide that could have caused breathing issues was used. They said they could not refund us. VRBO says they can.
Early April is just at the cusp of spring in this area. There were lots of people heading to the state park on Saturday, despite the damp weather. We were visiting Penn State, which had lots of different events scheduled and enjoyed being close to campus ( 15 mins) but also miles away from the crowds with our two children and one dog. The house is very rustic, but well-appointed with newer fixtures (particularly in the kitchen) and has lots of dishes and cookware if you're planning to self cater. The owner was very helpful / responsive leading up to and following our stay.
The cabin is old and rustic, but has heat, AC, washer-dryer, and WiFi so plenty up-to-date. The beds were comfortable. The owners were very responsive through the VRBO app and checkin was super easy. I liked the location in the woods it was calm and rustic and an easy walk to Whipple Dam SP.
We stayed last weekend for the Penn State game. It was the perfect location and price. It was about 20 minutes to the town. Any closer to the college and the rates doubled. The cabin was perfect size for our family of 4 and little chihuahua. We would stay here again.
The cabin is very convenient for a quick weekend turnaround to see a football game. There were a couple of restaurants making eating easy. Had a lovely fire out back. Wish we had more time to explore nearby parks. Cabin had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.
Rustic with plenty of modern amenities. The bathroom remodel is great! A couple minor experiences with wild life, but it was a great stay. Dog came with us and had a great stay as well. Would definitely come here again!
This place worked great and was exactly what we were looking for as a long weekend getaway. The inside is updated and nice. Beds were comfortable. Fire pit was perfect after long days of walking up and down mountains. It also acted as our grill. If you are planning to cook there, bring pans. The ones there were pretty unusable.
A nostalgic cabin in the woods. It has all the conveniences needed for comfort. Doans Bones BBQ is practically across the street and has excellent BBQ! Wish we had more time to explore the area, but only stayed here to attend a few events at Penn State, which was about a 20 min drive. The owners were very responsive to any questions we texted. It is an old cabin, so it comes with some rough aspects. The bathroom was nicely updated and clean, the beds were comfortable and the overall layout was nice. Thank you for sharing your home.
Thank you for a great stay. We enjoyed a delightful 2-night visit. The property is conveniently located a short drive through charming, winding roads to the campus, which made our college tour a breeze. The accommodation was cozy, and equipped with everything we needed for our brief visit. The host was exceptionally helpful, offering excellent tips about local dining and attractions. Recommended for a comfortable and convenient stay!
Loved this old cabin. We gotcha late start so I was dark when we arrived. It was a little difficult to find in the dark. Google maps could not find the cabin address that was provided so we clicked on the link in the listing. It actually took us to Hill Street for n Petersburg. We were able to enter Diana Bones bbq into google maps and that is how we found the cabin. Other than directions and finding in the dark everything else was great. Will definitely look at staying here again for future games.
Cool little cabin. We were staying here for two nights and going to a Penn State football game. Itâs about 20 minutes from campus, and involves driving up and down a mountain to get to it. So if you are not a fan of driving on a hilly, country road, this might not be for you.
The house was great. Kitchen was nicely updated as well as the bathroom. Heating worked well and the stay was comfortable. This is an old home, so there are little quirks to it. The most noticeable one is several of the floors are slanted. But I love the character of older homes and I would definitely stay here again.
It is off a main road and cars do tend to whiz by. But, things quiet down by bedtime.
This cabin was very well maintained and very homey, matches the listing perfectly. A fine distance from campus for a game weekend, and right next to Doan's Bones Barbecue (though a bit difficult to find, the property really sneaks up on you). Host was very kind and responsive, and provided sheets, towels, soap, water, and laundry detergent (among other things that we didn't use). I would absolutely stay here again.
